World of Ruzane

The world of Ruzane is a world set in fantasy. A world where majestic beasts and skillful individuals once took one another on in the attempt to conquer the entire world. It all came to an end at the day of the Cataclysm that wiped out the world.

The event that broke the world. According to legends it was caused by the war for Conquest started by the Cailae Summuses. Few empires and several kingdoms took part of it which led into devastation that tore the world. It is unknown what happened, but those that survived the cataclysm and witnessed it detailed it as a beam of light that spliced the heaven in half and caused the known realm to shatter. Oceans rocked and the mountains crumbled throughout the world. Those that survived floated on islands that soon became continents and recombined into new realms. There is no knowledge of how many lives were lost, but it is safe to assume that the majority of old kingdoms and empires perished.

The reconstruction of the world was done by Four known elementals that are referred as Gods that prevented the realm of the world from cracking into permanent destruction.

The date of the Cataclysm had become the calendar for the cailaes and Nyxians for the calendars of the old were forgotten and faded from the memory. Everyone refers to the time 'After the Cataclysm' and 'Before the Cataclysm'.

Aftermath of the cataclysms are still seen throughout the world. Ancient cities and walls still remain in the strangest of places where the reconstruction of continents had taken them. Some are still occupied by either twisted beings or are abandoned husks full of knowledge. The world might've ended, but the war has not. Ancient golems still roam the world seeking the enemies and or their home. Ancient beasts were freed from their shackles of slavery and now roam the world. Hordes of undead are marching without their masters command and savagely adding others to their ever growing rank. Ancient Ghost Cloud Breakers sail the skies aimlessly without a single soul onboard defending areas that no longer matter. The oceans are polluted with war machines either mechanical or bio engineered. They hunt any vessels without separating a friend from a foe and have gone completely feral.

The adventurer's are the ones who are trying to solve the mysteries of the old world and the Guild of Adventurer's has set their sights on uncovering the secrets of the old and to ensure destruction of those that still harm the healing populations. The colonization efforts are still on their way with most of the land still being wild due to lack of population to control them.

The cycle of Cailae Summuses had come to an end as well as an aftermath of the cataclysm. No more of these powerful sovereigns has been born ever since. Some consider it as poetic justice for the end of the world. Their kind waged war for centuries before the Cataclysm. Their rise and fall had been the story of many past kingdoms and empires.

Those cailae summuses who are still alive from the world are either twisted or broken spirited for there are not many of them left. Though every adventurer should be wary when encountering one. The Sovereigns are crafty and clever often with their own agendas in the world. They are destined to inherit the world and now the competition has been wiped out.

The elemental stones are the core of magic in the world of Ruzane. They are ancient stones that had been formed in nature where the element's power is strong enough to solidify. These elemental stones charge themselves from the ground and often provide its wielder incredible elemental energy that would maximize the potency of their spells.

While the crystals have power within that affects those around them, neither cailae or nyxians can tap into the source within. Only the beings of Cailae Summus, the sovereigns, are blessed enough to access the secret power of the crystals to amplify their powers.

Low Medieval Fantasy setting
- Tribes exist
- First steps of Feudalism with low expectations
- High technological regions such as regions that had or utilized steampower
- Cloud Breaker Airship construction limited to wealthy and well developed nations.
- Most regions are being recolonized by cailaes. Capital cities, castles or temples are the most defended and the safest regions. Smaller towns and villages suffer from beast, wildlife and twisted creature attacks.
- Artillery such as cannons exist but are rare and their construction is limited due to limited metallurgy. Steel and iron weapons are manufactured with iron being the most common type. Only some distant tribes live still in bronze age.
- Gunpowder weapons such as muskets aren't available as of yet. Only weapons available are bows, crossbows and similar ranged missile weapons.

In the past the very clouds were pierced by the bows of ships which spliced them in half. This is why the vessels are often called "Cloud Breakers". To this day the secret art of ship construction has been only partially revealed. Only the strong and capable nations with capable shipwrights can construct a flying ship. Models that are often used are merchantmen, indiamen, cogs, galleys, carracks and heavy carracks. On the rare occasion some nations can construct Royal Carracks, Frigates, Brigantines and finally the largest vessel; The Galleon class.

Flying ships use two sources for levitation. Air Shard is the first. Each air shard is harvested either from a flying island or from elements found on the ground where the area is windy. This energy can crystalize and turn into a stone element that houses the power of air. This crystal is the very manifestation of magic in air itself. Once extracted from ground by miners, the shard is placed in to a room within the ship's hull into a cage surrounded by metal combined with a special crystal material which enables iron and steel to conduct the power of the crystal through the ship like veins. This spreads the crystal's power across the vessel and creates enough lift and makes the ships stay afloat, if the crystal is large enough to handle the ship's weight. The bigger the crystal, the higher the altitude ceiling becomes and the heavier the ship can be. To supplement the lift and to make it cheaper some vessels use often balloons filled with air shards power combined with hot air. By heating the shard with a boiler will extract more of the shards powers and make it release particles that generate more lift than hot air alone could.

Though the shard shrines within a ship are vulnerable and highly volatile if damaged, for the shard might explode. Destruction of a shard will automatically lower the height ceiling and if the vessel has no other form of lift the ship will crash down to the ground.

Air Shards are elements and powered by the world. However once extracted, they act as a battery for a limited time. Since they are no longer attached to the world or nature itself, they will slowly lose their power and must be recharged. Capable mages can recharge these shards using their mana. in a special ritual which will take time and energy to properly maintain and fuel it with power. This is the only limitation of the ships and acts as a meter for fuel. How this is tracked however is not known and only some rare ships have the technology that showcases the strength. A mage can feel the power of the shard but cannot reach into it or extract it, only add into it.

The largest vessels seen by the Cailaes is the flying Fortress monastery of Knights of Sivalta within the Empire of Sarosanct Wicew. A Holy order that defends the empire and all that believe in them. This large vessel houses the largest excavated air shards known in the AC. However legends suggest that there has been even larger vessels BC used in wars. Exactly how large vessels had been is unknown.
