Race: Narkariss (Nar. kah. [r]ees - [r] = trilled r) - aka: Vorusian Nekojin

Appearance Details: Black hair, black fur on his ears and tail. Violet feline eyes. As tiny as a small human baby.

Personality: Skittish and shy like the stray kitten he is. He often keeps his distance from those he is unfamiliar with, and it can be somewhat challenging to earn his trust. As he survives on his own, food is almost always on his mind as it's difficult for him to come by.

Physicality

The Narkariss are the feline humanoid race that inhabits the central grand-forest region of Vorus known as Nalkyen; their race's name hearkening to its cultural meaning, The Hunting Folk. Their appearance is nearly exactly the same as that of humans, only they lack human ears and instead possess cat-like ears atop their head; their eyes also being cat-like with human color variation present as well as cat variants. Also possessing cat-like tails, the fur color on their tails and ears usually match their natural hair color. With a carnivorous nature, they have sharpened teeth and claws that can protrude from the tips of their fingers which enable them to hunt smaller prey; and if an individual is a skilled hunter, medium sized prey.

With the physicality and lean muscle development allotted to them, they have great natural athletic, acrobatic, and hunting talent, giving them the potential to become some of the most efficient warriors and assassins in all of Vorus.

Life-Cycle

The infants of their kind, referred to as Kittens, are born into litters, always of 2 or 3, no more and no less. From birth to the late months of their 4th year in life they remain significantly small, about the size of small human babies which makes them easy to carry. During their Kitten years their feline nature is most prevalent, their behavior resembling that of a domestic cat, and they almost always locomote on all fours with a kittenish waddle due to their short legs, seldom standing or toddling about upright. Their most common means of communication is either through mewling or feline body language which includes the usage of their tail and ears.

Transitioning to their 5th year of life they undergo a significant growth spurt to the size of an average human child their age, thusly entering their Cub years. Their muscles grow stronger and their legs become longer, allowing them to be swift and nimble. With their legs growing longer and stronger than when they were kittens, they lack the ability to go about on all fours, yet they no longer need to in order to be quick. As they become older their nature of communication and behavior falls more in line with that of humans than cats.

Aging into adulthood, they become even faster and stronger; much more so than a human, enabling them to become efficient and deadly natural predators, with or without using weapons. The average lifespan of a Narkariss is comparable to a human's, and if they live long enough to reach their senior years, it is only then that their physical ability begins to wane. That is if they manage to live long enough...

State of their Race

The draconian theocracy, the Holy Amlorahn (Ah. m. low. rahn) Empire, rules the Eastern Vorusian region, Telesvandriah (Tel. ez. vahn. dree. ah), with an iron fist and in line with their ideology they have labeled the Narkariss as Orvuhriss; a term describing a people considered sacrilegious abominations. For millennia the denizens of Amlorahn and its predecessor Kingdoms had been at odds with the Narkariss Tribes, even before the emergence of the Holy Empire. Some time after Amlorahn came to dominate the rest of Telesvandriah, they would wage a genocidal Holy Crusade against the Narkariss that has lasted well over a century.

It would be through a force of zealous volunteers known as the Order of the Purifiers of Nalkyen, that this crusade has been waged. Yet a fierce retaliatory rage had been fueled by this genocide that would compel the Narkariss Tribes to form an allegiance and wage war against the Holy Empire. Yet it would be a futile effort given the Empire's vast resources and manpower. After the Allied Tribes were defeated, the Narkariss had been scattered, and the genocidal effort of the Purifiers had increased tenfold with armies of Amlorahnian soldiers even being used to raid and execute entire Narkariss Settlements. With the numbers of their race dwindling, the once proud Hunting Folk are faced with the reality of extinction...
