  • Detailed Personality

    Oliver has never been one to mingle with people, and that hasn't changed. He tends to be quite distanced around those he doesn't know, only speaking when he needs to. He's usually lethargic and carries a heavy aura around him, despite being quite paranoid of spirits and apparitions. Because of his mannerisms and usual personality, most see Oliver as strange and eccentric even if they don't know him. He is eccentric to an extent. If happy, he'd be quite enthusiastic to talk about his collection of unique and occasionally cursed items or extensively about strange things.

    But, most don't see this. Oliver is hesitant to bond with new people, partially because he has little time and is so tired, and partially because of the growing distrust in magic users by humankind. If he does happen to interact more than usual, he tries his best to be kind, but he's often quite awkward and has a frantic manner about him. When he's more comfortable, he can be quite pleasant and nearly peppy and hopeful when he can muster the energy. He's selfless to a fault for his friends and community, partially due to his occupation.

  • Ritual Exorcist

    Oliver can perform incredibly powerful magic through rituals, insignias, and other sorcery-like magical practices. However, his power is limited to affecting the supernatural, therefore being completely ineffective against humans. While he could potentially learn infinite spells and such from the books he has, these are the main categories of ones he can do.

    Bell Wand
    Ollie's bell wand is a willow stick with golden bells on it. This is what he uses to channel mana, and without it, he holds very little power aside from doing limited things.
    he can also cast powerful offensive spells towards evil entities with his wand that are effective instantly and do not require materials.

    Circle of Protection
    Oliver can make a protective circle around a small area using his own mana. It's akin to a forcefield and can be done without his wand but only in states of dire need. He cannot maintain it for long, because it uses a lot of energy and requires no materials.

    Bond
    Oliver is able to form a contract with supernatural beings, giving them power in exchange for their protection by connecting their mana flow. He can summon them by ringing the bells on his wand.

    Bless
    Oliver is able to ward common or "lower-level" evil spirits (still very dangerous to the average villager) away from larger areas such as towns or even regions. It works like a force field. However, this requires an extensive ritual and massive amounts of mana to maintain, which in most cases, is donated by residents of the area through a mana collection site. With faith declining in exorcists, though, many villagers have stopped donating. The protection in Ollie's area is slowly fading due to this and lack of other exorcists.

    Specific Rituals
    Ollie can follow specific, more material-based rituals for expelling spirits from a house, seeking out a certain kind, etc. These rituals require little mana but more physical supplies. There are many of these within his book, but some he does not yet possess the skill or energy to do.

    Sixth Sense
    Oliver is able to tell when powerful magic is nearby, especially if it is an evil entity, unless lengths are taken to conceal the aura. Upon being around people, he can pick out the supernatural from the human.
