Deep in tranquil forest groves, where magic is allowed to permeate unhindered, rare flora thrive, and creatures of legend find shelter. It's here the enfield calls home, and what many enfield consider their duty to safeguard from those who might spoil these secret places.

Like most vulpine creatures attuned to magic, the deep grove enfield are gifted with illusion magic. However, their power of disguise is a little stronger than a simple trick of the light. They may transform into a common feral red fox and walk among the forest creatures unnoticed, and some even choose to live most of their lives as simple animals.

As well, they are capable of hiding their wings in their true shapes. This serves as both a way to navigate thick undergrowth much easier, and sometimes pass as travelers when interacting with other sentient races. Enfield are secretive about their nature, as many fox-like creatures of legend tend to be, and only reveal themselves when the need for their power is great, or to those they trust.

Creatures born in the hidden places all possess some magic, and foxes have a preference for illusion magic. While many magical foxes use this magic to better hide in shadows, or lead people astray with will-o-the-wisps, enfields of the forest take this a step further and use their foxfire to create stunning light shows that amuse other forest denizens. Coupled with their dexterous talons that lend them to music and the arts, and they are a shining example of culture and performance in the wilds.

Though an enfield's power of illusion is impressive, the more powerful the illusion, the more difficult it becomes to conceal that they are casting it. Something small, like a mouse that baits a cat, might not be noticeable to most people, but a huge dragon that breathes fire would take a lot of the caster's energy to maintain. As well, the golden aura that emanates from their irises when they are using their magic becomes more prominent as the illusion becomes more elaborate.
