Tomas was born on a rural patch of land seemingly lost in a remote Scandinavian country. He grew up always wanting to escape a fate almost surely tied to lumber or mining. Tom dreamed of flight. The quickest route was the military. It was something he prepared for and even dreamed about.
The chance finally came. When it was time to attend university, he signed up for his college's officer training detachment. Cadet Overlund was accepted into the flight training program and earned his first set of pilot licenses while still in school.
After graduation Tom was assigned to work with A-10 attack aircraft. These were surplus acquired by his nation's Air Force. It met Tom's mentality perfectly. The aircraft was designed to attack ground targets head on.
Tom is currently working up junior officer ranks while building experience with attack aircraft.
The nation equips its pilots with submachine guns and trains them in survival and defensive tactics. Those who fly attack aircraft like the A-10C and the fighters that escort them must be resilient. Their first plan of action is to evade contact and avoid capture. Royal Imperial Air Force flight suits include the capacity for 9mm protective armor to attach in a modular, form fitting manner. Heavier vests with 7.62mm plates could also be stored in a small space alongside the pilot's seat.
