Setsuko Yozora

Japan, Muromachi jidai, The year 1336. Yokai, mythical spirits and creatures, both benevolent and malevolent, who roam the rich and beautiful landscape besides humans. Yuki-onna is one such yokai, a rarely born species of snow women who typically only born within heavy snowstorms. However, this December's wintery weather's grasp has been significantly colder with a fierce snowstorm siring. A futa Yuki-onna mother and her female human lover hunker down in a small mountain village for the night. That very evening as the severe blizzard covers the small mountain village in deep snow, and a child was born. Those same parents named this child Setsuko, which means child of snow. Growing up in this beautiful mountain village, Setsuko's parents and the villagers taught her martial arts and how to control her cryokinesis from a very young age. Setsuko even fell in love with a young human girl in her teenage years. Setsuko and her lover Tomoe were inseparable. Training and occasionally sneaking off for alone time together.

The year 1354, eighteen years after Setsuko was born. She and Tomoe were celebrating her eighteenth birthday together. This wintery night was calm and quiet. A gentle winter breeze drifted through the snowy mountains giving way to a peaceful, still wintery night. However, Setsuko and Tomoe's romantic quiet encounter was disturbed by the sounds of screams. A large group of ogres were reaping havoc upon their small mountain village, slaughtering and raping. Setsuko crystalized a blade of ice to help defend herself and Tomoe to no avail. The ogres were just too many in number and strength. They raped and killed Tomoe in front of Setsuko before mortally wounding and leaving her dead upon the snow, stained crimson from the senseless bloodshed.

That night, mortally wounded and left for dead lying upon blood-stained snow, The ogres would eternally change Setsuko's life forever. As her eyes blinked awake, Setsuko would crawl and hold Tomoe's dying body within her arms. The small mountain village fell into an eerie silence of despair. Tears stream down Setsuko's cheeks falling upon Tomoe's face. With her last breath Tomoe whispers "aishite iruyo~.. anshin suruyo~.." Whilst caressing her cheek. The moment Tomoe's life fades, a rare and once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon occurs. Every last drop of spilled blood siphoned into a crimson stone with the glow of a harvest moon. This glowing crimson stone and Tomoe's spirit infused with Setsuko's soul. They were eternally transforming her into a yuki-onna vampire hybrid. Her icy blue eyes became crimson red while her silvery-white hair grew to butt length flowing in the wintery midnight air—an icy neckless with a crimson red gem encased in an icy teardrop.

Setsuko sank into a bloodlust, a bloodlust of revenge. Setsuko stalked and hunted the ogres that ravaged her small mountain village using her new gift, giving them no mercy just as they had shown her and Tomoe. She brutally slaughtered those ogres casting them to the land of the dead where they couldn't hurt anyone else. It was a beautiful dance of blood and ice—a perfect parting gift for those who raped and slaughtered her Tomoe. As the bloodlust simmered down and Setsuko's feelings settled, she'd go to her village and bury her parents and decided to wander Japan.
