Spirits of the Mountain

Unburdened by mortality, responsibilities or a greater conflict, the Tengu lived his life for many years serving his own vices and self improovement. He takes great pleasure in tea, food, books and music, just as in the delicate arts of calligraphy and the organisation of his choosen home.
The apparition always tries to keep his own appearance clean and elegant, his manners smooth, his words and polite, playing the role of the nobility of old.

The tengu holds knowledge in high regards. This is true both for the empirical discimplines, and the more shrouded misticisms of the spirit world. Yet it could be told that he keeps tales and legends in even higher esteem, especially ones concerning the mortal realms. Kenta was keeping a close eye on the human world, in the age where the way between realms was still stable. Nowdays all he has are snippits of information from the few spirits who had made the argous journey to the world over, and managed to return safely.
While he is more than able to match tale for tale, the tengu also always corrupts his stories in one way or an other. Partially because much of his knowledge about his fellow apparitions is rather intimate, and can cause more harm for the receiver than good. Yet it's also true that the tengu feels no compulsion against lieing, and always willing to shape the truth to better serve his own wishes, be it for the benefit or detriment of the listener.

Under the ages Kenta has befriended every spirit on the mountain, at least once. Even if some of his neighbours harbor hatred in there hearth, the tengu would try to solve there

Kenta keeps the tale of his origins in the highest secrecy, never telling the same story twice, not even for a fellow spirit, or a fellow tengu of his clan.

Strange Anatomy: Unlike most apparitions who are able to morph there body into into apealing or monstrous shapes, Kenta has only the most superficial control over his phisical appearance. This allowes him to sprout a set of dark wings for flight, or fold them back under his skin. Under heavy stress his visage may form additional features, betraying his true nature, yet the tengu doesn't seem to have a true monster form.
Kenta also has partial controll over his body weight, able to make his flesh be light as a feather, or heavy as stone. Allowing him to be either perched on thin branches of threes, or ancor himself to the ground like a rock.

Red Hand Fan: Kenta possesses a red fan of magical powers. This item is able to create winds, updrafts, small thornadoes, or gather larger storms if used through a long ritual. The item's use doesn't require special knowledge or training, and the tengu isn't able to replicate it's effects without it.

Combat Skills: As a tengu, Kenta is able to fight with speed and strength far surpassing the human limitations. He is able to excert force far beyond what his thin frame would suggest, and move faster than his baggy clothes would phisically allow.
Kenta is also trained in the arts of swordsmanship, archery, glaive and spear fighting. His schooling is mostly built upon the more practical teachings of the edo period, and the aerial combat styles of his fellow tengus. Kenta made efforts to keep an eye on new martial techniques and disciplines, but he long since became isolated from the human world, and his knowledge regarding the new schools of kenjutsu is void.
