Dane

Appearance
It often comes first for Dane. He dresses tastefully, with a limited wardrobe and dark academia flair. All of his clothes are soft and he always wears a thick sweater or cardigan. He has piercings that change periodically, except for a daith in each ear which is always the same. At a distance, he is conventionally attractive and healthy–this is by design. Upon close inspection, his nails are translucent and brittle, there are dark circles under his eyes, and a handful of bones are more noticeable than they should be. He is mixed race, Caucasian and Japanese.

Personality
Dane is extreme in both selfishness and altruism. He is detail-oriented, thus often the first to notice when something has changed, whether that be in someone’s expression, a fold in a blanket, or even the way someone writes a letter of the alphabet. These details help him take care of those he values without needing to ask, which means his kindness is unrecognized. He loves to be at home, sipping on black coffee and reading thought-provoking classics. Equally, Dane loves to dance in nightclubs and stumble home in the early morning hours. He has gained an unfortunate habit of reveling in his own sadness and could use more positive influences in his life. A penchant for troublemaking tends to drive people away.

Skills
Books. Dane is obsessed with reading, writing, and stationary. He writes in exquisite cursive, spends a lot of time in libraries, and has volumes upon volumes of leather-bound journals that detail his life. In those journals, he also keeps photographs and drawings of architecture. Otherwise, Dane is exceptionally talented at getting into things that he shouldn’t. He’s a master at lock picking, can hot-wire a car, and knows his way around a security system. Like with all things, he is a balance of good and bad.

Romance
His own worst enemy. Dane is attracted to much older men and anyone he thinks is risky. Long-term relationships are rare, as he is a serial cheater who pushes the envelope with established boundaries. Although he is doubtful about notions of love, he yearns for someone to prove him wrong. Dane is a bottom whose tenderness is earned.

Problem Areas
It’s complicated. Dane cycles between a handful of substances. Quitting one thing usually leads to overuse of another. While he doesn’t engage in these mechanisms at the same time, he has a sordid history with alcohol, sex, barbiturates, and nicotine. He is always reliant on caffeine and struggles to finish meals due to extreme picky eating.
