Jason Harlow

Jason Harlow... what a name shrouded in mystery. You see, no one really knows the tall and rather dark man who can be found anywhere in the country at a moment's notice; due to both his work, and his personal choices. Jason's occupation is one that skirts a fine line between morally correct and downright illegal; bounty hunting. Jason takes it upon himself to help families find closure in the aftermath of heinous crimes committed against their loved ones. He finds his victories where the police department fails, or where they barely look to begin with. When the law fails the citizens it is sworn to protect, Jason is the one who delivers justice; for a price, of course.

Growing up, Jason was raised solely by his mother, Natalie, due to a marked absence of his father. Natalie never talked very much about the man who fathered her son, and Jason never asked many questions. Sure, he grew up in what would be considered "poor" by today's standards, but Natalie did her damndest to assure that her son had everything he needed in life. And she did a damn good job at this, too.

At the age of fifteen, Jason became privy to some knowledge about his father in a rather unexpected way. One very late Saturday night, Jason was caught sneaking back into his bedroom window around the hour of 2 a.m- under the influence of alcohol, no less. After being caught by his furious and equally intoxicated mother, a heated verbal argument ensued. Yet at the end of that argument, the conversation shifted and led to Natalie slipping up and dropping Jason's father's full name: a man named James Harlow, or Jay for short. That night, Jason also learned the story behind his parents brief relationship; that his mother had been tricked by a "conman", a conman she had met in a bar just over the Golden Gate Bridge, in the city of Oakland. That night they exchanged numbers and... other things, as a drunken one night stand bloomed between the feisty hot headed woman and the devilishly charming man. Not even two months later, when Natalie discovered she was pregnant, she dug the number scrawled on a napkin out of her jacket pocket and gave it a call. The call was answered not by Jay, but a sweet sounding woman who introduced herself as Julia; Jay's fiancée. It wasn't long before Jay came to the phone, and Natalie explained the reason for her call. Rather than being supportive, a long silence followed Natalie's news that she was with child. Finally Jay spoke, one single coldly delivered sentence before he ended the call; "Never call here again, or you won't live to regret it."

It's undeniable knowing such information shaped the man Jason grew into, a cold, calculating, sharply intelligent yet brash and cunning man. It was these characteristics that perfectly molded Jason into an ideal bounty hunter, and forged a fierce sense of independence in him. A fire burns deep within Jason's soul, sparked by the gaping wound of knowing that his father abandoned him, and his beloved mother. The only thing keeping that fire contained from searing out of control and engulfing him, is the only person Jason ever trusted himself to love; Natalie. Even though Jason is obsessed with hunting the dark in the world, it's the thought of knowing his mother is safe back home that keeps him grounded; keeps him human, really. If it wasn't for her, Jason would have no outlet to show that he does indeed have a sweet heart, a caring soul, and a gentle mind. Perhaps one day, a woman will come along that sparks a different sort of fire in Jason's soul, but until then, his work consumes him and occupies his full attention at all times.

Throughout it all though, one can't help but wonder; if Jason is capable of tracking down anyone in the United States, what is stopping him from seeking out his own father, from seeking answers and the truth from the man himself...
