CHILDHOOD
Julien grew up materialistically comfortably as the youngest sibling of five. While he had a roof over his head, clothes on his back and food on the table, he lacked attention and care from his parents. During his early school years, he would act out and quickly learned that bad attention is some kind of attention. It meant his parents would be called to the principle office and they would be forced to interact with him. While it was a messed up way for a child to seek comfort from his parents, it became the only real way Julien's parents would talk to him.
As he entered his teenage years, he became acutely aware of the fact that he was far from his parents favourite child. He realized he was simply tolerated as a part of the household, which made him lash out even more. His older siblings tried to take on a more parent role for him, though it was a short-lived endeavor.
As his teenage years progressed, Julien would start to miss school and instead take to wandering the streets. He would commit petty crime and vandalize property as a way to do something with his anger. He would end up getting suspended from high school during his last year, as he got into a fight with a fellow student and broke his arm. While sulking at home, he was faced with the ultimatum from his parents that either he turns his life around or he is being kicked out. Begrudgingly, Julien agreed to try and be better. -
PERSONALITY
Julien is a man with little to live for. His childhood had been consumed by a feeling of anger and being rejected by his parents, that he never sat himself a goal for what he wanted with his life. Now, as he is trying to turn over a new leaf, he is attempting to find that something. It is harder than he thought it would be, however. He finds himself being too rough around the edges and while he tries to sand himself down to a more manageable person for others, he believes very few people genuinely enjoy being around him.
Underneath all the bravado, Julien is lonely. He has had few friendships in his life and he misses the closeness something like that could bring him. He is hurting, as he never got the love and care he deserved from his parents and the only way he could voice that was through anger and violence.
