Zara Singh

Zara was taken from her family as a young 3 year old girl. She had spent two years in a slavery training camp before being sent to a slave merchant who would sell her and give most of the proceeds to the camp owners. She had little to no memory of her parents or her older brother. She didn't know if they had sold her for coin, if she had simply been kidnapped or if her family was slain. It was against the laws for slaves to ask questions of their past, to seek knowledge beyond what their masters would want, or to even know how to read. Most were uneducated and only skilled in their professions.

The family she worked for distrusted the Kin species. Humans crossed with various animals. Wolves, foxes, dogs, bears were only a few of the breeds out there. They had taken Zara in, when she was 5, only as a companion and a slave for the oldest son of the family. The heir to the land. They had hoped he'd develop the same distrust of them by showing him that was all they were worth. They deprived her of any education, any knowledge of her past, or even her own abilities. She wore a simple leather collar around her neck that was branded with a variety of runes. The collar was cursed to prevent her or anyone to remove it without experiencing extremely painful shocks of electricity. The collar was also cursed to prevent her from accidentally shifting forms into her wolf shape. Her family feared she'd grow stronger and attack them in her wolf form so they raised her without knowledge she could.
