Rowan is tall, standing at nearly seven feet if it wasn't for the slight hunch with which they carry themselves, giving them a somewhat timid appearance. He is notably thin, with long limbs and narrow shoulders that make them seem almost delicate. Moving with a quiet grace, each step light and deliberate, as if he doesn't want to draw attention to himself. Rowan has long, fiery red hair that they often keep tied back in a loose ponytail. Their face is long and angular, framed by a pair of prescription red glasses with rounded lenses that magnify his eyes, which are a deep shade of green, almost emerald-like. Their complexion is fair, with a scattering of freckles across his nose and cheeks that trail down his neck, giving him a boyish charm. Despite his quiet nature, there is a certain intensity to the way he carries himself as if he is constantly lost in thought. Their clothing is simple and comfortable, consisting of a light pink collared shirt covered by a rich brown sweater, the v-neck of the sweater, and an unbuttoned collar giving the appearance that the fabric was playing keep away from his throat. making his already long neck stand out all the more. While they are much more than their diagnosis I would like to preface by stating that it's important to note that autism affects individuals in unique ways, and it's not accurate to assume that all autistic individuals share the same personality traits. While Rowan is high functioning they struggle with social interactions, communicating, and exhibits repetitive behaviors and intense interests. On top of sensitivity to touch, sounds, and smells. They are heavily based on my own experiences with autism so I ask that you please treat them with respect and understanding. Overall, Rowan is introspective and thoughtful, valuing deep connections and meaningful conversations. They are also more of a listener than a talker, more than happy to simply listen while the other party speaks about their day or their interests. If made to speak Rowan has trouble maintaining eye contact unless talking with someone they are deeply comfortable with. When asked directly they are often slow to share, taking long pauses before speaking to consider what they want to say. However if the topic shifts toward one of his interests he may become more animated and can often discuss the topic for a long while. He has trouble reading body language or subtle shifts in mood and may not realize when someone is uncomfortable or trying to give nonverbal cues. He does attempt to be more mindful of it but often overcorrects and may end up apologizing for some nonexistent slight or discomfort. They are a person who has a deep and passionate appreciation for books and reading. They can be seen spending a lot of their time reading and can get lost in a book for hours. They cherish books and treat them with great care, often organizing them meticulously on shelves or in collections. They may become animated when discussing their favorite books with others and have a knack for recommending new books. He’s read every book in the store and is always the first to read any new books that come in. Even manga or other graphic novels aren’t free from his hunger for literature. It’s not uncommon for locals to come in and describe a seemingly nonsensical prompt only for Rowan to offer a book of that exact premise or idea. Their second passion is coffee. They have a deep appreciation for the taste, aroma, and experience of drinking coffee and a whole counter of their kitchen is dedicated to their expresso machine. They enjoy discussing coffee with others and learning about the origins and roasting processes of different beans.
