The World of Col is not unlike other lands of fantasy. Kingdoms and knights and monsters and magic are all found here.

However, Col has the habit of being visited by those from other worlds every so often. It is said they are summoned by the greater dragons for a purpose. These visitors are granted an ability unique to them, the ability to tame monsters. Doing so allows the monster to transform to a humanoid state and forge a partnership. This relationship is not unlike a marriage and must be maintained in order for it to work properly. A broken bond could result in a monster returning to their original state. Possibly even resulting in the death of the tamer.

A tamer is not restricted to a single partnership and may forge multiple if they so choose. But they are still expected to maintain their previous bonds. However, it is possible to mutually sever a bond if both tamer and monster agree to end their relationship.

However, forging and strengthening a bond between a tamer and monster can greatly benefit both parties. A monster provides protection and companionship as well as being able to learn and master new skills and abilities they would never have access to on their own. There is also rumor of a tamer able to borrow powers and abilities from their monsters but this is only rumor and has never been confirmed.

A tamer may also learn any other skills they choose while they are in this world. Some tamers may choose to take up arms and fight alongside their monster companions, others may choose the schools of magic and aid in that way. While some others may choose a tactician role, commanding multiple monsters at a time. There is no limit to what a tamer may choose to do during their time here.

It is said that if a tamer completes their task, they are granted an audience with the great dragons. They earn exactly one favor from them. Could they be sent home? Would they ask for a comfortable life among this new world? Or is there something else they desire?

However, it had been over a century since the great dragons had been seen. It has been said that they have ascended from this world, leaving it behind. Exactly why is often debated, some say it is because humans no longer worshiped them, as other religions and faiths came to rise. Others say they have faith in humans to survive without their aid, as all children must learn to walk on their own. Though they have also left their servants, the lesser dragons behind as well. But even they have been seen less and less over the years. Some think they have died off completely.
