Charun

The origin of the Wisps is unclear, as murky as the swamp's water, but Charun sees a great importance in them. Enough to drop his alchemic studies, Enough to leave the comforts of home and settle in the swamp they inhabit, Enough to protect these peculiar beings at the cost of his own body, just to try and catch a glimpse at their true nature.

Something curious lays in those autonomous and he's fully ready to chase it, even if it kills him.

The canopy of trees can often block light from above, painting the swamps an inky black abyss. While conventional tools such as torches may provide light, Charun's place is far from a conventional situation. While the glow of certain moss and algae can provide him enough light, the benefits of a feline origin doing the rest, those cover only a small area. Then there's the occasion that less optically-fortunate adventurers find themselves lost.

An old lantern on the end of a crooked branch forms the staff is the way he chose to remedy this, using his unique relationship with the Wisps to borrow their light. With nothing but the crumbs of old rations, these living flames will happily stay and burn a while.

Charun has kept this trusty staff by his side since it was first made, not just for light but also a much closer look at the usually unruly beings.

White fur runs down the ridge of his nose, blooming out to cover his muzzle down to the front of his neck, only to then thin as it reaches his chest making a 'tuxedo' pattern. His paws, both front and hind -or I suppose top and bottom in this case-, are also covered in white to make mitten and sock-like patterns. Sleek, black fur fills in the rest of his body, completing the suit-like look of his coat.

In stature he looks not too different from a domestic cat on a base level, as though one just decided to start walking on it's hind legs exclusively, but his height prevents any confusion. Various little differences in his skeletal and muscular structure further burying the possibility, giving Charun an unsettling look when he tries to mimic his quadrupedal cousins. Though this part of his physique alone is enough to make him a curious being, one thing makes him stand out above all else. A plant has taken to calling his body home.

Vines twist around and stab into his body, roots running from the claimed parts like veins. His right arm is the main victim of this parasite, engulfed all the way up to the shoulder with it running up his neck, a third of his face also being claimed. His mouth and nose go unimpeded for now, but his right eye has gone completely covered.
