Basic Information

  • Born to wealthy, traditional wizarding parents, Xenophon Calbraith exceld in the arcane arts and eventually pioneered the technique of Filumancy—the exceedingly complicated use of patterns and knots of enchanted thread as a somatic and material component in spell casting. Prodigy placed Xenophon quickly into a number of prestigious secret arcane academies on modern Earth, and had him quickly mingling with elite mages. School proved limiting and the sacred orders that dictated use and abuse of magic proved stifling, so Xenophon founded a corporation of warrior wizards who sought out and prevented or solved magical and otherwise supernatural threats to the natural and human established hierarchy of things on Earth.

    Secret cabals of wizards did not take kindly to his independence and willingness to interfere with events. This lead to a hostile takeover of his work and it was usurped from him. After seeking his vengeance and burning his bridges on Earth, Xenophon sought to explore the cosmos and eventually the multiverse, traveling with his lover and slave Sherelle, who he had purchased on earth. He maintains their slave relationship and seeks to hide it where it is illegal to own people, but the unique and absolute nature of the relationship suits the two of them.

  • Abilities

    Filumancy's simpler combinations can be done with the fingers and occasionally the mouth to channel spells. The well of magic is usually pulled from the natural world's magical reserves by default, or from Xenophon's life energy. While it is not infinite, as long as he does not push himself past his limits, it does not affect his vitality. Filumancy includes known combinations of clear cut spells, but at its core Filumancy is exploitable: Given enough time, magical resources, and nails, Xenophon can create any spell, do any act. Some are more or less attainable than others. Below include known abilities he can produce with simple movements.
    Note: All power levels are subject to the community Xenophon is played in and are up for negotiation. Balance is the goal. Xenophon is a powerful, seasoned wizard but is not a mage that can manipulate reality readily.

    Misty Step
    The caster instantaneously teleports in a cloud of mist from one location to another within ~50ft. It does not have to be seen, and the consequences of that are resolved within roleplay. Xenophon can take one (1) person with him.

    Multiversal Transmission
    Upon laying a circle pattern on flat ground of solid type, and with enough knowledge or prior research into a world and its possible inter-versal transit, Xenophon can hone into and open a temporary gate to another plane. This is generally a very taxing venture without any other magical catalyst (including the power of the gate on the other side). Any amount of people can use it, and the gate usually lasts up to one minute if needed. This is generally how Xenophon enters other communities.

    Provided Xenophon can swing or thrust a limb for the magic to channel through, Xenophon produces a generally intangible, mostly invisible, spear of force capable of breaking brick. With enough time to channel, steel can be breached.
