"I am not the swaying branches of the greatest tree above. Basking in the sunshine as its verdant leaves splay for all to see. For the mightiest trees require the deepest of roots, and it's that very role I will fill until the end. Ever deep shall I dig my tunnels below, grasping and tightening through each year to only ensure we as one will withstand the storms to come. There is pride in being a root, even when forgotten or scorned from above. There is a feud of sorts that lingers between both roots and branches. A war in the worst of years. But I know the importance of each side. For without the branches to feed the sun and light to us roots, we would grow weak and crumble all the same despite our believed might. Just as if the roots were to weaken our grip, and stop pulling the ever needed water, we would all fall to disease and rot. Both sides are blinded by their role in nature and the tree's health. I fear that only when it's too late will it be understood, and there is not one thing to be done when all falls."
