  • Description

    In his normal form, Kangaji is a notably short canid resembling a Jindo mixed with a Sapsari. His wiry body is covered in fulvous and beige fur. He has black wavy hair, and if one looks close, they might notice tiny budding horns hidden in his ebony locks. His golden irises have a subtle glow to them, which match the swirling patterns emanating gentle light across various parts of his body. There is an extremely large bite mark scar on the back of his right thigh, which glows gold as well. He wears cheap yet comfortable clothing, often with a theme of blue, white, and pink.

    Kangaji has two other forms, both evidencing his were-hellhound curse. When shifted into a bipedal bulgae, Kangaji grows significantly taller and develops a rippling muscular physique, now resembling a Mongolian Wolf. Smooth black spiraling horns curve out from his wild hair. The glow from his eyes and body reaches another level of brightness, now spreading to his tongue and claws as well. Smoke and steam often accompany him, as when he is not focused on keeping his powers at bay, fire occasionally wisps from his mouth and his flaming paws singe the ground. As a quadrupedal bulgae, Kangaji’s qualities are much similar to his previously mentioned form. However, he now resembles a massive wolven Ferian.

  • Lycanthropy

    Kangaji is cursed by a unique strain of lycanthropy that causes him to transform into a type of hellhound called a "bulgae". You may have heard of them from Korean mythology.

    In Kangaji’s lore, a bulgae is a type of hellhound with supernatural origins. Their descriptions vary greatly depending on their lineage, but they consistently resemble wolves or dogs with horns, colorful glowing features (namely: eyes, mouths, claws, and swirling patterns on their bodies), and fire related powers. Bulgae typically function with both bipedal and quadrupedal forms.

  • Present Day

    When in his original form, Kangaji spends most of his time illustrating, composing songs, or practicing his fire magic. He also ventures throughout Kasuria to make new friends, share his art, and work on commissions for those he encounters on his journeys. Upon being transformed into either of his hellhound appearances, he submits to his instincts to run wild, hunt, and search for a pack. He has more control in his bipedal form, but still displays limited volition over his animalistic urges.

  • History

    Kangaji grew up with a single mother who he rarely saw due to her rigorous work schedule. Left to his own devices, Kangaji would explore the tiny rundown village he called home and the surrounding forest, wandering into dangerous areas without recognizing the risk. During one of these outdoor escapades where he had gone particularly deep into the woods, an enormous beast leapt upon him from behind without warning. Before he even knew what was happening, he was subjected to a frenzy of scalding bites. There was no hope of running when it took hold of his thigh and knocked him to the ground, sinking its teeth deep into his flesh. Before the creature could kill him, however, it was scared off by something larger. Although too dazed to recognize it at the time, years of processing the event would yield the understanding that he had been attacked by a juvenile were-bulgae, and only barely saved by that bulgae's parent.

    At the time, however, Kangaji passed out, believing those were his final moments. But when he awoke, he found himself in the remnants of his destroyed village, with his mother and neighbors staring at him in utter horror and contempt. He was told that he had run amok in the form of a colossal hellhound, and was subsequently exiled, never to return. Kangaji had no choice but to start over, roaming the world in hopes of finding answers and acceptance. While his lack of self control over his lycanthropy became a pattern, he took immense solace in music and artwork, and begun to create his own with the goal of becoming a professional.
