Like most fae, he was born from the womb of a flowerbud that had been experimentally grown from a familial patch of toxic mushrooms by a mad(?) unseelie mage looking to create creatures that could utilize inherent telepathic abilities to sow chaos into the world and gain power through hidden knowledge.

All Flix knew growing up was the lab he was born to, kept in a small hanging cage from the ceiling along with his brothers and sisters, each one eventually proving to be unsatisfactory and discarded rightfully so. There was no telling how old he was in normal human years, but he looked to be around seven years of age, and about the time he was (5) he had escaped the lab by sticking his legs through the bars of the hanging cage, holding his golden binds over a torch, burning his feet a little to get the chains to loosen and melt enough for him to break them apart and end the enchantment that kept him bound to the room.

Eventually he could escape and, not used to his wings just yet, opted to dart through the unfamiliar lands and survive on his own by reading the intent of the creatures he came across, hiding from those who saw him as a snack and mixing in with those who were indifferent to his cause. He'd picked up a bit of common from overhearing conversations between the one who 'grew' him and his underlings/customers. He eventually discovered a seelie town and, while they welcomed him in, his wild nature was a bit too chaotic for their likes and no single person took him in, but allowed him to live within the vicinity since he was now adapt to living on his own.
