    She is a kind person, quiet and socially awkward, but always leading with the best intentions. If her nose is not in a book or her hands aren't busy crafting with fibers, she is often found volunteering her time to help others; neighbors, friends, strangers, everyone is worthy of her support. Her love for animals is unwavering, and she often finds herself caring for strays and donating to animal related causes.

    Having lived most of her childhood isolated from other people, she is not very good at socializing even when she enjoys it. Many cues are lost on her and it's difficult for her to intuitively understand what is expected or acceptable. Her kind and gentle demeanor is often so disarming that most folks easily forgive her transgressions, though it also makes her a target for those with an agenda.

  • Personal history

    Pearl comes from a long line of witches. For as long as her mother and grandmother could remember, the women in their family bound their souls to objects of nature to harness the powers of the earth. Pearl's mother performed the ritual on her daughter when she was 8 years old and taught her how to use it, always reiterating the importance of using her powers wisely.

    Besides the unusual habits within her family, Pearl had a loving father and mother who lived well in the woods. Knowing that their ways and abilities were uncommon, they lived secluded lives from society in an effort to prevent their untimely end at the hands of superstitious people. Pearl often went along with her father on trips to the towns to sell firewood and herbs, providing her with the much needed social interactions with children of her age. At home, the animals were her only and closest companions.

    Her mother taught her how to spin and dye wool from the animals they kept and progressed to knitting articles of clothing. She enjoyed it so much that she made it her profession and learned to weave in spells to aid the wearer with good health and luck.

    When she was 23 years old, both her parents succumbed to a mysterious flu despite Pearl's best efforts to help them recover. Mourning and gathering the few keepsakes she could afford to take with her, she had them buried near their cottage. The animals that were left were either released or given to farmers in town.

    She moved a long distance away from her family home and settled in a small village town, renting a small and cramped apartment and working menial jobs in local stores. It didn't take long before she became close friends with the elderly woman running a quaint little knitting shop and found a permanent position as a sales associate and taught knitting classes. When the kind soul passed away, having no living relatives to speak of, Pearl discovered she had left the shop and the cozy apartment above it to her in her will.

    The Woolly Basket was hers.
