Background
Typically in the naga communities I do, nagas do not stick around and raise their young. Perido was a naga, and while Hobbes' father was not one, Dante did not stick around either. Hobbes raised themself, and had almost nothing to do with their brother, Yvicke. They lead an antisocial life, up until the point that Lucien was born and D'mreux decided that he was going to try and unite the family. Perido was still not interested in parenting, but he successfully retrieved Hobbes and Yvicke. The results were minorly disastrous. Yvicke had already grown used to living alone and felt no connection to Hobbes, Lucien, or D'mreux, and Hobbes had no experience dealing with others in this setting either. However, Hobbes grew to genuinely like D'mreux and Lucien, and did develop a bond with them. When the family structure broke apart once more under the strain of Yvicke's desire to leave and Lucien's desire to explore, Hobbes traveled with the latter for some time. Eventually, they decided that they wanted to settle down, they left Lucien and came to live outside a village of humans. One thing lead to another, and they came to care for the village. They accepted the title of Demigod, and that's where they've been ever since. |
Appearance
Typically, Hobbes is from India in this Au, and has features that reflect that. They have dark skin, but their snake half is white with brown patches. Sometimes, they even have indigo lowlights. |
Abilities
Hobbes is a minor fertility god. This usually means that they can make a person fertile or infertile, act as a midwife, or create babies if a single parent wants one and has no partner. They can tell many things about a pregnant person, such as whether or not the baby is healthy, and help them if the baby is not. |
Family
Perido: Father [Druid] Dante: Mother [Human] Yvicke: Brother [Human] Sylvia [aka Dogmom] [Grandmother on Perido's side] [Druid] |

Hobbes lives in an tree about the size of a single apartment. It's comfortable enough to house two people, with most furniture grown out of the tree itself. They have filled it with many different kinds of plants, and there are plenty of windows to let sunlight in. |
Abilities/Special Traits
*Plant magic. Hobbes can coax plants to grow in certain ways, encourage growth at a high speed, can make most plants thrive *Nettles. Hobbes can grow nettles at an alarming rate, with the ability to suck the magic out of an entity or just plain devour them. *Land magic. Hobbes can divide the area he is responsible for into different sections, that cannot be crossed if he does not want them to be. He can create pocket dimensions within his forest as well, along with different paths that will guide beings to where he wants. Drawbacks: *Hobbes cannot leave his forest. If he is forcibly removed, he will get sick and die. *His soul is no longer contained in his body, but a black doe that must remain near him at all times. |
Appearance
Hobbes has rough, barklike skin and branch like horns. They also have flowers/leaves growing out of their hair. |
Manor
Perido pushes Hobbes to take his place and do him proud from an early age. He completely overlooks his oldest son, Yvicke, because Yvicke has already been deemed a major disappointment in his eyes because he is human. In this way, Yvicke develops a resentment of Hobbes, and over time, Hobbes begins to resent Yvicke as well. The two form an unhealthy sibling rivalry. Hobbes tries her best to make her dad proud, and pushes herself beyond what is healthy to meet his standards. However, no because of Perido's crazy expectations, she seems to only somehow fall short. On top of this, Hobbes only wants to become high druid to please Perido, and has no actual interest in the role. This causes Hobbes tons of stress. Eventually, Hobbes becomes close with Azurit, another druid in the coven. Azurit also wants to become high druid, but she is also sharp and relentlessly ambitious, which the elders do not approve of. Instead of changing this, she decides to achieve this through other means, and angles to become Hobbes' kingmaker. Hobbes, seeing not many options left, takes Azurit up on her advice. Eventually, the two begin to date. Azurit convinces Hobbes that doing things the right way will never work. Hobbes isn't built for politics, and this is obvious to the elders, so they must turn to other methods. Hobbes and Azurit turn to forbidden magic, using Perido's tomes without his permission. Hobbes' moral compass holds out to many of the more vicious rituals, but there is one she's willing to try... Hobbes and Azurit mean to get rid of Hobbes' soul. The book outlines that putting it in another vessel will allow Hobbes to become more powerful, but the ritual takes quite a bit of power on it's own to operate. In this way, they come to the conclusion that they must summon a demon, and this is where Daxton comes in. The book details that through the ritual, Hobbes will be giving her soul to the demon. Hobbes will retain true ownership, but the soul will be with Daxton. The plan is to wait until the full moon to do the ritual, when their powers will be at their height, but Hobbes realizes that she won't be able to go through with it if she thinks too much on it. So they decide to do it that night. The ritual leaves Hobbes feeling at once empty and full of power, a shaky mixture that she'll need a few days to recover from. However, there isn't time. Hobbes and Azurit were not prepared for the magical disturbance the ritual creates, alerting the other druids that something incredibly dark has happened. Azurit barely gets Hobbes to her feet before Perido arrives with a group of three of the strongest druids in the coven. He's horrified at what Hobbes and Azurit have done, banishes both of them, and disowns Hobbes as his daughter. From there, Azurit's relationship with Hobbes disintegrates quickly, and the two split paths. |

Perido
Perido grew up in Old Yharnam, in a poor family. He became a priest not because he was religious, but because it was what his father did and he saw an opportunity to gain wealth and power. It was because of this that he was able to marry above him; Sylvia was of higher social status, and even though she did not love him, being a religious woman she desired to marry into the church. Perido was not a loving husband, but then, it was not a part of their agreement that he had to be. As for his children, he provided for them, but it simply was not in his nature to be nurturing. That was left to their mother, especially when their oldest child seemed more interested in solving his problems with his fists rather than his words. When it came to light that his wife had been unfaithful, he was more concerned with his reputation than anything else. He was more invested in his work. For such an ambitious person, it was very rewarding to be able to advance within the church, and the community, the way that he was. At first, he did not believe much would be found in the tomb of the Old Ones, but as the rumors of a cure all emerged, Perido became highly interested. He investigated these rumors, and saw an opportunity. Eventually, he would come to join the Choir, and played a part in spreading the Ashen blood to grow the Healing Church... He'd always expected Hobbes to join the Healing Church. In the beginning, he'd expected it of both Hobbes and Yvicke, but Yvicke didn't have the faith the way that Hobbes did. The urge to help people, and genuine belief Hobbes had made Perido believe that she would do well in service of the church. And he made this very, very clear. Yvicke would never join him and be the proper heir to legacy, but Hobbes... Hobbes would do him proud. She was made to attend service on Sundays, and spend a majority of her time helping in the ways she was able, while Yvicke was left to his own devices. Which was why, when things began turning bad and beasts began roaming the streets, he was surprised when Yvicke joined the Hunt. It was in this way that their bond developed, and Yvicke earned Perido's satisfaction and special attention, as Perido took him under his wing. He began teaching Yvicke things about the Healing Church, sharing with him secrets... but this would be his undoing. When Yvicke learned what the Healing Church had done, he exploded into a rage, and fully turned into a beast. It was here that Perido met his end. D'mreux
D'mreux came from a long line of doctors. The clinic had been in his family's possession for generations, along with his natural charm and good looks. However, business hadn't been doing too well the past few years, not with his overly generous heart and inability to turn away someone in need. Perhaps it was because of this that he never did find a wife. The closest he ever came to a true romantic partner was Sylvia, but even as their friendship flourished, she was being courted by a man of the Church. There was no competition, and D'mreux was amazingly fine with this. Perhaps the greatest loss he felt in not marrying was the knowledge that he wouldn't be able to have children. But then fate intervened, and Sylvia was with child. At this time, things were delving into chaos. The Ashen Blood was spreading, and D'mreux's clinic was packed with clients... that he couldn't help. Over and over, he lost the people he was trying to save, and he was growing desperate... D'mreux became convinced that the answer lay in Old Yharnam, despite Sylvia's warnings. Still, he stayed. There was his son to think of, two other children that he came to love dearly, patients that needed his treatment. It was tense, and stressful, especially knowing that Perido was a man of the church, a powerful one, that could render D'mreux a social outcast... but he was distracted, obsessed with blood and power. And so for a time, D'mreux was allowed to stay in Sylvia's life, playing until to Yvicke and Hobbes, and adoptive father to Lucien. When Sylvia died, this measure of peace came to an end. Perido blamed D'mreux for Sylvia's death, knowing that she had died coming back from a visit to see him. He banished he and Lucien from Hobbes' and Yvicke's lives. And when Lucien came of age to be a hunter, D'mreux began exploring those dungeons beneath Old Yharnam, searching for answers... Sylvia
Sylvia was a well off woman who lived within Yharnam. Her marriage to Perido was one of convenience, and together they had two children, Hobbes and Yvicke. However, being married to Perido was not easy. He became engrossed with the work of the Choir, being a member himself. He worked late nights and was almost never emotionally available, and so as beasts began wandering the streets, she turned to her best friend, D'mreux for comfort and protection. One night, in a moment of insobriety, Sylvia was unfaithful, and became pregnant with D'mreux's child. For some time, she kept this from Perido, until she could bear it no longer and told him what she had done. It was decided that Sylvia would go to live with her parents in the country until the child was born. When she returned, it was intended that D'mreux would be given the child to raise, and Sylvia and the rest of the Hobrens would never see either of them again. However, Sylvia would not relinquish her little Lucien so easily. With romantic feelings between Perido and Sylvia never had existed and Perido's growing obsession with his work within the Healing Church, Sylvia was able to fight to keep D'mreux as a close family friend. To avoid damage to Perido's reputation, it was said that Lucien was an orphan D'mreux had taken in, and out of the goodness of her heart, Sylvia was acting as a mother to this child. Yvicke was reserved towards D'mreux, influenced by Perido, but Hobbes came to view D'mreux as a father figure and loved him dearly. For a while, this would work, but then one fateful evening a beast attacked. Sylvia sacrificed herself to buy her children enough time to get to safety. Yvicke
Yvicke was raised from a young age to believe that he had two jobs; make his father proud, and protect his younger siblings. After Sylvia's death, Yvicke was put in a position of great responsibility. D'mreux was no longer able to see them as he had once been able to, and Perido always seemed to be busy with work. In this way, Yvicke became responsible for taking care of Hobbes and himself. It seemed to be the only way to please his father, who thought he relied on his fists too often to ever make anything of himself. Yvicke was determined to prove him wrong by any means necessary. It was for this reason that he joined the hunters of the Healing Church, while Hobbes became an administrator of blood there. Yvicke was strong and cunning; a highly adept hunter. As he began developing a reputation, he rallied a hunting party, making allies with other hunters and gathering a group to coordinate with. They hunted down all manner of beasts, but it was a ferocious beast that had taken down many hunters that he set his sights on. Yvicke was relentless, and when he felt he had the resources necessary, he and his companions struck. It was no easy fight, but the beast went down, which is what caught his father's attention. He began administering special blood to Yvicke, experimental blends of it to help make him stronger. It did not take Yvicke long to become reliant on it; with it, he was able to hunt larger groups of creatures, stronger ones. His relationship with his father developed, and he learned secrets of the church in this way. And then his father made a mistake. He told him of the true origins of the Ashen blood, and how the church came to power; Yvicke exploded into rage. He turned fully beast, forgot his humanity. Yvicke struck Perido down, and took up residence in that part of the church... felling any hunter that came near... Lucien
