Due to some issues with our last editor we are quite sad to announce that they were released to go on a rather permanent vacation courtesy of an adoring fan. We believe it may have been one of the stars of the Red Riding Hood column they were working on but we can't be certain. Apparently the big bad wolf doesn't have a sense of humour. It was, unfortunate to say the least, but we here at the Quill have worked hard to get back on our feet and brush the dust off.
o As we step into our hottest season we of course have to keep track of some of the steamiest fashion on the island. This season we have seen quite an increase in, you guessed it, nothing at all! More and more ladies are baring it all with a bit of jewelry and not much else in a bold statement that is not only practical but oh so chic at the same time. Only the bravest and most daring women have taken to this style thus far but you can be quite certain that the who's who of Guildereim's social scene will be stepping out by stripping off.
o Speaking of the hottest season of the year, it seems that we're having a bit of issues in the Tether's oh so grand halls. Mold. The forest is one thing, but having these dirty intruders in the main areas of the establishment itself is quite another. The obvious cause is, without a doubt, a lack of cleaning regiment amongst some of the house slaves. Namely a little white miscreant known as Sura. This particular girl is rarely seen cleaning and instead has been known to make more of a mess than she fixes. I'm sure most of our readers can agree that a house slave who doesn't clean is almost useless. Especially when they did nothing to help the current situation that we're finding ourselves in. Tsk tsk, Sura. The Quill is always watching.
o As for this issue of booming plant life, how did things get to be so bad so quickly? Well the answer is simple. It wasn't quick. Several hunting excursions had pleaded to be heard over issues of more plantlife than was normal and even more aggressive insects than they typically dealt with but they apparently went unheard and unheeded by the powers that be. Those few that did filter through to the higher ups were merely covered up and waved away as nothing of importance. Could this have been taken care of before now? We certainly think so. If the Rah and Tahneesta would hide this from the well paying patrons of Guildereim then what else are they hiding?
o But we can't merely place all of the blame on the management of our beloved home. The blame also falls on those who have been negligent with their magic and have used it to such an extreme excess that even the island itself has begun to rebel. People such as Kess Nightwing would be one of them. This woman is a known threat and has even been placed under arrest for magical disturbances. In fact, if rumors are to believed she was even friends with the woman who caused the ice storm the island was forced to deal with in the winter. Perhaps this is revenge for the death of that ice witch. Or perhaps her playful sense of humor is merely a ruse for something far more sinister. By no means are we overlooking the other magically inclined occupants of the island. It's our opinion that all of those sorts should be watched very carefully.
o During these trying times we would like to personally issue a warning to those of you who we hold dear. The insects that are causing a ruckus should be avoided at all costs. Stay inside where you can. If you have to go out, have fire at your disposal as that seems to help a bit. Make sure to have any bites treated immediately. The Infirmary, while almost constantly full of people these days, is the place to go when uncertain about anything. Just be warned, some of the more haphazard assistants have been known to use extreme measures to take care of these unknown issues. Other assistants may just ignore you.
