  Appearance :
  Twig thin and long-limbed, Alín hails from the southern continent and it shows; his skin is dark bronze, darker than the northern brothers and sisters he lives among now. He is wiry, built like a gymnast, and graceful, similar to a cat. He uses natural, wild magic, but also relies on other methods: namely the form of martial arts called Capoeira.
  
  His skin is rough from long days in the sun, and he's no stranger to hard work.
  
  Alín's most striking feature are his eyes: bright Amber gold that give him a rather feline appearance. His face - like the rest of him - is scarred, though the most notable is the long thin line stretching from above his right eye, across the bridge of his nose, and down across his cheek and lips. His ears are pointed, often dripping with gold rings and precious gems, commonly rubies and garnet.
  
  He wears his dark, nearly black hair in the common style for those in his tribe: long hair, shaved on both sides, and tied back into a horse-tail. This style was common, as it showed the connection to their trade. He braids gold thread, beads, and feathers into this sort of "tail".
  
  He is a pirate, and Alín prides himself on his appearance: a white banded collared shirt, vest and trousers, black. Add leather boots, a long black jacket, and a feathered, tri-corn hat, and you've got his looks down pat. Weapons wise, Alín carries a long-bladed dirk on his left hip, and a cutlass on the right, and a single flintlock on his belt.
  
  On the back of his neck, there is a silver-inked tattoo, in the shape of a dragon, with emerald eyes. There are other marks cross crossing his skin, mixed with various scars.
  
  Personality :
  One thing that can truly be said in Alín's favour is that he's a very genuine person: what you see is the truth. There are no walls or facades--he wears his emotions on his sleeve and will always tell you exactly what he wants (but certainly never what he feels). He is abrasive and blunt--a man who will get in your face and yell at you if you piss him off.
  
  With that said, it might explain why Alín doesn't really have many friends. Self-obsessed, self-righteous, selfish, self-involved, and just about any word preceded with the word 'self' that holds a negative connotation; Alín's first impressions tend to depict a very arrogant, elitist type persona. His top priority is, always has been, and always will be, himself. This doesn't necessarily make him a horrible person...Alín just always considers his own needs before anyone else’s. It was the one quality that kept him sane as a child; that is has leant him an overinflated sense of self-entitlement is only a natural byproduct of that as far as he can see.
  
  He learned from an early age how to not only survive, but to persevere. Perhaps one of the most competent, rationalistic people one could meet, Alín does have a steady head on his shoulders. He once ran an entire fleet of ships, a veritable empire, by himself. Through them, he has learned to embrace his controlling, cruel side. Simmered since the fall of his empire, but still present, Alín still has incredible issues quelling his desires for power and dominance. Attempting to one-up him then, can often lead to incredibly violent reactions (though he attempts to stifle these in an attempt to be gentlemanly).
  
  He almost always over-analyzes situations, reads far too much into the simple things people say, and often misinterprets what they say. This, of course, added with the fact that he doesn't talk to anyone unless he sees some way to potentially benefit from the exchange, doesn't make him the most approachable person in the world. But as said, Alín is genuine in this very raw, basic way--he'll let you know exactly why he's talking to you. His love notes (if you are lucky enough to have him like you) are well-known for being exceedingly blunt. Beautifully worded and poetic in every way, but undeniably blunt in their intention.
  
  Strict, moral-bound, and very high strung, Alín is one you don't want to piss off...or disagree with. Firmly stead-fast in the thought that what he thinks is correct, and everyone else would do best to follow, Alín has a habit of pushing his beliefs on other people--and getting upset if they disagree or challenge him. He /is/ able to see different sides to an argument... He just tends to refuse to really give anyone else's opinion much credibility.
  
  Of course, Alín's rather unpredictable mood-swings don't help much with his ability to connect with people or make friends. Alín can, quite literary, go from pleasantly humming away in his quarters to shouting at someone over the most minor of follies. Perhaps bipolar, his moods can change on the turn of a dime. This can occasionally be good--when Alín's in a pleasant mood, he's generally nice to be around. For the most part, however, it's poor luck on the part of the recipient.
  
  Physical beatings aside, he can also give you quite the scathing verbal assault. As well-worded as he is witty, Alín jumps at any chance to prove someone wrong. He's sarcastic and brusque--don't bother talking to him if you don't have thick skin. It's important to note that he (rarely) does this out of malice or spite... He really just likes to come off as witty; that and he doesn't really censor himself. He can, but doesn't really do so unless he has some underlying reason.
  
  He's some mixture of Superiority and Inferiority complexes--though most who know him know that it tends to lean more on the side of the latter. As much as he projects the image of a noble, respectable person, Alín deals with quite a bit of self-deprecation. It's why compliments can so easily elevate his mood, and insults can leave him in a state of depression. His mood swings seem to come into effect here too--he can be entirely arrogant, or riddled with doubt depending on the day. Much of it stems from needing to constantly prove himself as a child, and having to force himself into believing that he could do anything if he tried hard enough.
  
  History :
  Born in the southern continent of Ra'veh, Alín's parents were Héla and Dalnu, of the Feirval Tribe. They were a nomadic people, and they are known nor their success with horses and trading stock in Ra'veh. Alín is the second child of four, and one of three sons. His elder brother would take over as head of the caravan once their father became too old to lead, and his youngest brother would take over the family business of training horses, so Alín felt he would do better off away from his family.
  
  He left at the young age of 79 years of age and began to travel, leaving the deserts he had called his home for so long.
  
  He came to a port city named Er Alain, where he took board upon an airship called the Venganza. He joined the crew, becoming close to the captain of the ship, Viktor Dresden.
  
  Dresden taught the young elf the ins and outs of ship life, subtly grooming him to take over as captain should he die. He took to the lessons well, not only learning the tasks easily enough, but was slowly becoming what Dresden wanted: a young man who could run the ship with an iron fist.
  
  When Alín took over, he changed the name from the Venganza to a better named Ithuriel, and he has sailed the skies since, creating a small empire for himself.
