  The truth is, the only definitive answer is that there is no definitive answer. Magic is diving into the abyss and discovering it's a featherbed. It is the searing heat of a fireball, the cure to ailments beyond comprehension, creatures pulled to and fro through the very fabric of reality itself. Magic is the thread of a limitless mind woven into the indescribable, nothingness made something. Magic is what you make it."

  
  
  At least, that's what it said in the brochure. What it casually neglected to mention was that a limitless mind required limitless funds. Lluris Anvisane is a student at Elidyr Institute of The Arcane Arts, arguably the premier mage college in the country and undoubtedly the most expensive. Study in as many subjects as possible seemed the way to go, with special attention paid to Necromancy --Elidyr being one of the few colleges willing to teach the art. But, alas, the "kid in a candy store" naivete wore off with the novelty and things went south. Fast. Grants and loans hardly put a dent in his tuition fees, and now Lluris faces That Which Shall Remain Unspoken: Student Debt.
  
  Fortunately, there are many ways to alleviate the horrors of an indefinitely empty coinpurse. Oddjobs were the obvious choice. In cooperation with the Elidyr Student Debt Relief Program, Lluris lends his necromantic services to the public at large, with a percentage of his earnings garnished by the Institute. Work primarily finds him as an Untimely Death Counselor, which entails finding people who have died 'before their time', raising them as intelligent undead for a negotiable time period, and giving them a proper funeral after they've made peace with their fate. Visits and goodbyes for grieving loved ones, as well as aiding the town guard in homicide investigations, are also within his field of expertise.
  
  Because the dead won't stop dying and that debt isn't gonna pay itself off.
