  • Defining Features: Red flecks in eyes; there are a number of burn scars on Amber’s legs thanks to first getting into using Dust for elemental damage tied to her projectile. Amber also has a scar spanning over her torso for the first time her ELBD had malfunctioned during the testing process, and the transformation from discus form to bow form had sliced through her side.

• History

  Early Life

  
  Born into Vacuo, Remnant, Ambria had been raised with teachings from Vale because of her parents having grown up there. For the years that she had grown up, Ambria was very content, and had borne witness to the erection of her family’s Dust shop, Faerie Dust. While very content and happy with her lifestyle at this time, Ambria soon found more joy in her life when their parents had announced when she was seven that she would be having a sibling.
  
  When Marigold was brought into the world, Ambria had been enthralled with taking care of her little sister, and helping out her father in the Dust shop when her mother had to take care of Marigold. However, whenever Ambria had gotten the chance, she would always try to be there for Marigold when she could manage, quickly coming to amuse their mother with her antics.
  
  When Marigold had been old enough to walk and talk, Ambria had immediately been the one that she had attached herself to like a little baby duckling. It was something else that amused their parents to no end, though it was something that they were always happy of – that Marigold could find herself protected at Ambria’s side. In that time, Ambria had also always been excited to show her little sister what they had learned at school that day, and the books that she was able to borrow. Thanks to Ambria, Marigold had an early start on certain subjects and other things.
  
  However, when Ambria had turned ten and her younger sister had just turned four, Faerie Dust had been threatened by White Fang operatives. Their father, desperate to get them out of the place before they caused more trouble, had insisted upon the fact that they did not actually have any new shipments in from the Schnee Dust Company from Vale.
  
  Unsatisfied with their report, the White Fang had started to scour the shop, and the adjoining residential area within the shop as well. Before they could investigate further, Ambria and Marigold’s father had done a good job at stalling them whilst their mother had hurried to their daughters, soon speaking in hushed tones. Telling Ambria to keep Marigold safe, their mother led them to a small utilities closet, telling them to keep as quiet as possible.
  
  Not long after they were secured, one of the White Fang thugs had burst into the room, soon aggressively questioning the mother and asking where they were keeping their shipments of the Schnee Dust crates for stock. During this time, Ambria and Marigold’s mother tried hard to distract from the whimpers that Marigold had been causing, though failed to have done so. Thanks to the wailing of Marigold and the confusion that she must have felt, the White Fang had come in and ousted both girls.
  
  In that moment, the air around everyone within the immediate area had become so quiet that the only thing heard in each person was the pulse of their heartbeats. Confusion had settled in upon everyone before the White Fang had reached out to make a grab for both girls. In that time, the air had reverberated with quickly rising sound, as the words: “STAY AWAY FROM US!” had been shrieked through the area, and then some. It was something that caused the White Fang to retreat due to their sensitive hearing, and it caused for much of the merchandise and windows in the shop of Faerie Dust to shatter.
  
  The more devastating news to Ambria, however, was when it was said that whatever had happened caused Marigold’s hearing to go out since she was so young, and had not been able to fully develop her hearing quite yet. This is something that wrought about an extreme amount of guilt to Ambria. Since Ambria had learned that sound was her Semblance, Ambria had fallen silent for the continuing time, only speaking when spoken to, and to voice a necessary opinion at times. Nothing could erase the guilt she felt for having harmed her little sister in that fashion.
  
  Though their mother and even Marigold had convinced Ambria that she was not blamed for anything over the next few years, Ambria had committed herself to learning writing, reading, and even taking up sign language to understand and convey messages to her little sister. However, when Ambria had turned twelve, she had been enrolled and admitted into Starlight Academy for Young Women to help train and become a Huntress.

  
  
  

  Starlight Academy

  
  Over the course of the next five years that would be her time in Starlight Academy, Ambria had crafted her own weapon – a discus that folded down into a longbow by the name of Chrysó Fengári. Because of her family’s dealing in Dust, Ambria had made it a point to make sure that the arrows that Chrysó Fengári uses are always Dust equipped to make them explosive, freezing, or electrical projectiles when fired from the bow. However, thanks to her… unusual choice in weapon… Ambria had been admitted to take courses with other students that had equally rare unique chosen for their primary.
  
  Being split into a different group later down the line, Ambria had been placed into being the understudy of Hari Narayana – someone that had been well versed in using chakrams – a discus like weapon. A little surprised by this, Ambria took the courses graciously, and had even been taught to better meditate upon emotions and feelings, thanks to Hari’s own background and beliefs. Upon that meditation, Ambria had soon become apathetic to most of those unassociated with her to better protect those she cared for and prevent her from using her Semblance without realising it since Ambria’s Semblance deafened her to her surroundings.
  
  Hari, taking note of Ambria’s uncertainty and cautiousness, had later attempted to have Ambria expand upon her Semblance rather than continuing to use her discus. A little hesitant to start this, Ambria had warned that Hari should stand back as much as she could before expanding upon her Semblance. Over time, and within the next couple years, Ambria had soon become able to channel her emotions and aura into controlling her Semblance over sound more capably, soon using it to better her training courses in stealth and distraction. Ambria had also learned to focus her Semblance usage into singular items as well – such as just the sound a rock makes when falling to the ground, or even a radio.
  
  Thanks to continued withdrawn antics, and only really being open with her family and with Hari, Ambria was noted as one of the more studious individuals that attended Starlight Academy, getting high marks upon her assessments for strategic planning, stealth, and other necessary required classes. One of the only positions that she failed at was leadership; the headmaster stated that there was no way that Ambria would ever be suited as a leader, due to her lack of communication and her lack of initiative when it came to others.

  
  
  

  Balefire University

  
  Unforeseen to Ambria, however, that would have all changed when she graduated to Vacuo’s Balefire University to continue her advanced training so that she could become a Huntress. When she and others had been called upon for initiation to forming their teams, Ambria had come to meeting Melan Finian, a wolf male Faunus that seemed a little timid at first. He had warmed up to Ambria as soon as he had realised that she appeared friendly enough, though found her silence unsettling. He had attempted to make idle conversation, though had only been met with nods or shakes of the head.
  
  Ambria and Melan had run into several Beowolves, disposing of then with a natural sync with one another. With that obstacle out of the way and the artefacts not having been found yet, Melan had mentioned to Ambria that they should continue with searching about. With a nod from Ambria, the two continued, teaming up still yet and taking care of other Ursas and Beowolves that lingered about the area.
  
  Before long, Ambria and Melan had come across another pair – one that seemed to have made Melan retreat back into a timid and non-talkative sort of shell. The two people would introduce themselves as Beryl Azura and Rohan Eirian. There came sarcastic remarks from Beryl, as she taunted the ‘Queen of Silence’ and the wolf Faunus. Rohan, on the other hand, had merely sneered at the sight of Melan, not uttering a word. The expression on his face told Ambria all she needed to know about anything between Melan and Rohan in that moment.
  
  Breaking away from the other two, Ambria just continued to lead, having stepped out of her comfort zone momentarily and grabbing Melan by the arm to continue looking for the artefacts that they needed to bring back. With little to no more obstacles obstructing them, Ambria and Melan had retrieved a Black Knight piece before returning back to the rendezvous position to report back to Dean Crim Gray and Violetta Cromatia.
  
  At the ceremony of which Crim had announced teams, it was much to Ambria’s (and everyone else’s) surprise that she had been made leader of the team that consisted of herself, Melan, Beryl, and Rohan (AMBR – pronounced ‘Ambria’). Though Rohan and Beryl were more vocal about this decision, Melan had remained rather content, and somewhat glad, from what Ambria could tell, and he had even congratulated her. Melan had made Ambria actually crack a smile before she actually uttered her first words to anyone of her new team: “Thank you, Melan… Your… your support truly means a lot to me.”
  
  However, despite the support that Ambria had received from Melan, there were many lingering doubts within her mind. After enduring two weeks of Beryl’s taunts and complaints, not to mention Rohan’s back handed remarks, Ambria had finally requested an audience with Headmaster Crim. Though, instead of meeting with Crim himself, Violetta Cromatia had sat down to have a one-on-one meeting with Ambria instead, inquiring why exactly she wanted to have this meeting.
  
  Ambria explained to Violetta that she was uncertain that Headmaster Crim had made the right decision in making her the leader of Team AMBR at this time. After all, there were so many things that she lacked that never translated well for a decent leader – or so the old headmaster of Starlight Academy had led Ambria to believe.
  
  The explanation had left Violetta with a sort of sour expression before telling Ambria rather curtly that there was no reason to doubt Headmaster Crim’s decision. With a sigh, it was further explained and elaborated to Ambria that the biggest limitation she had was buying into someone else’s perception as her own instead of building her own perception. Violetta went on to explain that even if there was not something there that Ambria could immediately see, that she would see in due time.
  
  Leaving the office and mulling over what was said to her, Ambria had returned back to her dorm, watching over her teammates and listening as well. What Violetta had said to her stuck rather tightly, and perhaps there would be more to meditate on later in the course of the year to becoming a better leader than what Ambria believed herself to be at that time.

• Relations with Team AMBR

  ► Melan Finian
  
  Amber has no prejudice against Faunus, and actually finds them very amiable people. This has shown in the fact when Team AMBR had first been made and both Beryl and Rohan seemed to turn their noses up at the fact that Mel had been on their team. Since their induction, Amber has done her best to make sure that Mel does not feel too left out.
  
  Ambria is the only one given permission to call Melan 'Melon' outside of the standard 'Mel'. Amber finds herself thinking of Mel as a close friend. Out of all of Team AMBR, Ambria has come to Mel with some of her own personal problems, as well as has come to him to tell him of things that she normally kept hidden in her past. One of the most notable things she has told Mel was of when her sister had been deafened because of her Semblance.
  
  When it comes to Mel, Ambria knows some of his secrets, and he knows about some of hers. They keep their words under lock and key, and have promised to do so. This in mind, Amber is more willing to talk to Mel about things than any of her other team members. Perhaps the fact that they doubted her leadership also had something to do with that aspect, though Ambria was also admittedly doubtful of her leader status when it came to dealing with team meetings and not being an avid speaker.
  
  Despite Ambria's quiet nature, Mel had always been the one that followed her, unquestioning her tactics and order.
  
  ► Beryl Azura
  
  Amber's thoughts regarding Beryl are a little negative, though this is because Beryl has and always has been the most vocal member about Amber being the leader. Beryl's vocalisations led to Amber passively taking the reins of the words and turning down the volume to make Beryl as mute as Amber is on most good days. Safe to say, this was not something that Beryl really appreciated.
  
  Out of the entire team, Amber and Beryl seem to butt heads the most, though it seems to be more that Beryl seems to think Amber's lack of communication skills are not fit for a leader of the group. Despite this, Amber continues her best to keep her team organised, no matter how many headaches half of the team seems to give her... namely Beryl in general.
  
  In recent times, both Amber and Beryl can... tolerate one another... but it does not seem to go much more beyond that. If it calls for it, Amber will stick her neck out for her team mate, but they are not friends by any stretch of the word.
  
  ► Rohan Eirian
  
  Ambria's opinions on Rohan are also a little negative -- perhaps more so than the negative feelings she has for Beryl. Since the team formation exercise, Rohan has proven himself as racist and discriminatory against Faunus, claiming that they are the reason his family cannot get work done. While Amber is sceptical on this front, she does not question Rohan's reasons, though tells him that if he is to be the cause of trouble, she will be the one ending it. Especially since it has been proven than Rohan and Melan have a difficult time working together.
  
  When it concerns Rohan, Amber hopes that he can see past his racism and anything bad that his family has developed over Faunus... especially when seeing that both Rohan and Mel are on her team. There have been countless times where Amber has had to break up the two -- mostly because Rohan cannot keep his racist statements to himself.
  
  Amber has brought the issue of racism and failure of team etiquette to the headmaster of Balefire University, but they insist that a team must be able to bring the best out of one another. That includes perhaps steering your team down the correct path, no matter how hard it might be. Words that Amber definitely did not want to hear when having brought it up to the dean.
  
  With each passing day and night, Ambria hopes that Rohan will realise that there is more at hand than what is simply skin deep.
