Biography

• An arrow was loose and whistled through the air before striking its prey. With a precise shot through the ribcage, the wild game had fallen limp to the grassy floor.
  
  Approaching from the shadows had been the figure of an Elven man. Bow nestled firmly in his grasp, the hunter glanced over the area with gleaming blue eyes. No other prey or predator had been in sight. And so the Elven shouldered the bow and brushed back his shortened head of hair. Glistening beads of sweat had matted the raven black locks as the warm, summer day was spent tracking their meal.
  
  The Elven man stood tall and well-built for the hunt, unless most depictions of Elven being fair-skinned and lanky. This Iliean-breed of man was nutmeg, or tannish-yellow, in complexion. Mostly likely from long days spent outdoors. Even the scruff of hairs upon his jawline showed that he preferred a natural look. Walking over to the site of his kill, the Elven man drew a razor-sharp carving knife from his waist.
  
  Years spent in the wilds have made him experienced in these next few steps. Dressing the prey and carving the meat, he always remembered to leave some behind for the other animals, too. The Elven man and his charge would eat well for the next couple weeks.

• Personality

  During the years of his youth, Laucio was confident and perhaps a little too sure of himself. But due to a series of unfortunate tragedies, Laucio now treads carefully in every action he makes. The only thing Laucio still holds confidence would be his ability to fight with any means to survive.
  
  Grizzled and certainly matured for still being quite young. Laucio holds a lot of deep resentment, but he does not allow it to distract him. Occasionally suffering nightmares and post-traumatic stress of days gone by.

• History

  Born within the Meval'Zern province to the Iliean kingdoms of Arcis. Laucio and his parents were part of House Orsa'al, prominent lords of the hunt and contributed greatly to feasts of wild game. With castles built upon the edges of the Wilds, where the fey folk still favoured the old ways, Meval'Zern was important in protecting the races from monsters bred in the Wilds. And for the mana-rich soils greatly coveted by the Fey. Through great influence, Orsa'al family eventually succeeded the throne, crowning the young boy Laucio as Prince to the realm.
  
  But seeds of deceit were already being planted.
  
  All of these politics within the reach did not interest Prince Laucio, even though the astute Elven boy managed to grasp much of this knowledge. The young prince favoured tales of adventure and the great unknown, even training in swordplay to one day slay a great dragon. Yet, as the years passed, Laucio remain concerned more with appeasing his family, and even pleasing women coming into his adolescent years. Laucio became quite charming in the public appeal, and wholly embraced the advance of technology within their kingdoms. Even though House Orsa'al became heavily criticized for their inaction to colonize the wilds. This advancing age of technology started to create tensions between Meval'Zern and the fey kingdom of Felic'Gino, which resided deep within the wilds many sought after.
  
  Borders stressed when multiple incidents of drillers were discovered in Felic'Gino wilds for mana wells. In attempt to quell the concerns for war with the Fey folk, House Orsa'al negotiated to marry their two houses. Much to Prince Laucio's disapproval at first, as the young elven considered the marriage to a wildling creature, unbecoming. Though after many weeks of dispute with his family, the young Prince soon agreed to meet with this supposed Princess Oroth Ingaril. And so House Orsa'al ventured to the kingdom of Felic'Gino in good faith to their lords.
  
  Little known to their knowledge about the events to come.
  
  A favourable meeting between the royal families proved fruitful, but one key element to their negotiations had gone missing... the Princess. While the Felic'Gino Guard dispatched their searches, Prince Laucio also agreed to track down the princess. Being skilled in the hunt, Laucio and his guards managed to intercept the fleeing Princess Oroth inside a dense fog. Despite his reluctance to the princess, the Elven showed compassion for the woman to return safely to the kingdom.
  
  The thick cloud had begun to feel unnatural, as a mysterious presence appeared from the mists to speak in whispers to the Princess. A smaller woman wrapped in dark rags promised to take the Princess away from the dangers to come. Concerned for the safety of Princess Oroth, Laucio attempted to attack this witch, but before striking true... the Princess and the mysterious woman had vanished.
  
  Angered by this recounting, the Ingaril family and their guards grew hostile against their guests. Despite the pleas made to continue searching for the Princess, a clash had erupted suddenly when whispers that Laucio murdered Princess Oroth began to infect the ears of all those around. House Orsa'al attempted to retreat back to their borders, but they would not venture far before being betrayed by half the guardsmen protecting them.
  
  Dissenters to House Orsa'al had delivered agents into the Elven ranks in attempts to throw the neighbouring kingdoms into war. War would allow soldiers to invade borders and protect the workers while they plundered resources. Though unfortunate that peaceful resolutions would not achieve their goal any faster. Many conspirators believed that the coup was necessary to enact change.
  
  Only Prince Laucio managed to escape the ordeal with the aide of knights still loyal. While his parents were captured and delivered back to the Ingaril family to await justice. The Prince and his loyalists would spend many sleepless nights traveling back across the borders. But Laucio had to remain concealed, as the horrible events that followed were soon to haunt the young elven for many years.
  
  News of House Orsa’al being captured was signalled soon after by an attack on the royal family. The Prince remained shrouded as they ventured past the bodies of cousins and loved ones. Beheaded or hanged, they were all on display during a hostile take-over by a military regime hell-bent on raising their army against the fey folk. Days later, Laucio even bared witness to the public execution of his parents by beheading. And a declaration of war between the kingdoms followed afterward.
  
  Two years had passed, and Laucio battled with himself in alcohol and depression. To avoid agents of Felic’Gino and the soldiers of Meval’Zern, Laucio drastically altered his appearance. Though it was not difficult when he often went unwashed and unkempt. As he continued to spend what coin reserves were left on women and wine, the former prince moved around nearby nations as a drifter.
  
  The name of Orsa’al was dead. And many loyal knights severed communication with Laucio. All except a few, and one in particular that informed the exiled Prince the knowledge he learned. This knight was there when Princess Oroth had vanished. And rumours were uncovered about the mysterious woman that appeared that fateful day.
  
  A witch that wandered ancient ruins in deep fog like a phantom. Some adventurers were able to witness and identify the witch as none other than a dragon. The aura they felt was unmistakeable to a powerful creature such as that. With this knowledge in mind, Laucio mustered an ounce of resolve to seek out the monster. And slay it.
  
  It was unknown what motives drove Laucio to this action. Not even he knew. With no will to live, perhaps he was simply searching for a great beast to challenge and die. Maybe Laucio could save the Princess, and use her as leverage to end the war. Dark thoughts that Laucio considered was to behead the Princess, much like how her family did to his.
  
  But none of that mattered, as Laucio spent some weeks in preparation to find a handful of knights still loyal to their oaths. As soon as they were able to trace the dimensional rifts the dragon made… it was already too late. Laucio had not been in a state of mind to lead his loyalists. And within minutes of entering the dragon’s lair, they were all slain except for the punished prince.
  
  Captured by the dragon and brought before the audience of Princess Oroth, Laucio had been harrowed by the utter defeat. Unable to die valiantly, Laucio was unaware the woman he sought after even stood before him. And his words expressed the mind of an Elven man removed. While the Princess claimed only a week passing, Laucio was adamant to argue that it had been two years. Little to either of their knowledge that time was erratic in the domain of the dragon lair.
  
  Princess Oroth appeared to suffer withdrawal of this revelation, as the fey woman was a Forest Nymph. The mental state caused the Princess to wither near the point of death. News that both kingdoms were currently at war could not help, either. It was Laucio’s belief that they would both die in that dragon’s lair. When something unexpected had occurred… the dragon witch had declared to release them. On one condition…
  
  Laucio agreed.
  
  Despite distrust of the dragon, the monster honoured its word and Laucio had to make contact with the remaining loyalist. The Nymph Princess would soon awake to suffer some sort of induced amnesia about her past few weeks. Even though both kingdoms continued to wage war, and her perception of the few weeks were, in fact, two years.
  
  Even to the day of meeting the exiled Prince.
  
  But with help from the loyalist, Laucio managed to reside them both in the woodlands, many leagues from the kingdoms. Without correcting the Princess to her assumptions, Laucio chose to fabricate lies to Princess Oroth. And so he assumed the role of a trusted ally to the Ingaril family. Watching over their daughter and protecting her from harm.
  
  Later, as the Princess recovered, she made her choice not to return to her kingdom. Together, Laucio and Oroth ventured in any direction away from their homelands. Doing what they had to survive the journey and perhaps encounter some adventures along the way.
  
  There were certainly times where Laucio questioned his position in this arrangement. Even dabbled in the dark thoughts of betraying the Princess’s building trust in him. The journey they shared slowly dissolved these ideas, even if Laucio continued to harbour a resentment to his betrayal. But Laucio agreed to make a pact with the dragon by heeding its instruction.
  
  No matter what, the Princess was not allowed to return home.
