The Past
Astrid is part of the 9th generation of a Danish blooded family ever since their imigration to the new world, well up in the high class of Seattle. Conservative of their own family values, the family tends to be close and kept to itself in most affairs, and have gone to the extent of assuring the next ones in line always keep up to their own personal standards of beauty. As such, Astrid was only the most recent addition to be put the test tube, granting her the possibility of achieving the maximum potential of her physical appearance, both in looks and physique. It was in such an environment that Astrid herself first came into contact with what her progenitors considered the ''Old ways'', with a strong emphasis on developing her own individuality and assuring that she at least would be able to defend herself and stand for what she believed in.
Fighting never was something Astrid was extraordinarily good at however. Whilst possessing a natural aptitude, she saw the lessons she took from an early age much more as tools to discipline her own mind than anything else, albeit there were other benefits from having an increased physical activity. The remaining lessons stuck to her however, some more deeper than others, to the point she slowly acquired her own collection of trinkets, rings and other charms, claiming and truly believing them to ward her from bad luck, and harm alike. She also learned how to wield a sword and ride a horse, where her skill with it was, once again, average, with potential for greater gains should she ever persue them.
It wasn't until she first set her hands on a car's steering wheel that she found her true calling. It started with but a modest interest of both her and her parents, with the argument being that even if she never actually drives, she should at least possess the tools to do it, just in case. Not only did she find out she had a tremendous aptitude for it, she also enjoyed being in command of several hundred kilos of metal and plastic, and soon found herself much more skilled than even her driving instructors well before her own license was obtained. In fact, she wanted to drive so bad, she earned herself several days in jail, much to her parents' dismay, for being caught driving without a legitimate permit.
Now with a minor criminal reccord in her books, it took some time for the tension between daughter and parents to die down, but once it did, Astrid's manifested interest and skill for everything with wheels was allowed to progress into a request to follow an engineering university course. Her parents hapily obliged.
It was in this environment that Astrid begain to derail. Finding herself in a rather complicated, but extremely interesting aquisition of skills, the young woman was quick to make friends, and assure that she always had someone to aid her when in a pinch. Said friendships eventually grew deeper, and one day, two of them confessed their knowledge of a local underground racing league, and it dit not take long for the group she was surrounded by to find itself involved in shadier events. Practically everyone was excited, but not Astrid herself. She wanted a window for legitimate racing to open, not for yet another, this time much longer stay behind bars, and the fact she did not have a decent enough vehicle to even partake in any particular race wasn't any less disheartening.
At the end of their first year, their entire class had to present a project for next year, in order to graduate in two of the oncoming classes. It was then that Astrid found her first love. Where her friends saw junk and hopelessness, Astrid saw a diamond in the rough in an old chevvy Camaro ZL1, 2013 model. It didn't take her long to convince her entire group that this was something they could really build from the ground up, and after a few comments that it was more from a minus 2 basement than ground floor, everyone agreed. The group eventually had to scrape the project for a time, for there was no chances for them to finish it in three years, much 1 semester, making them procure something easier and faster to complete. The car was thus entrusted to Astrid's hands, whom was still very passionate about completing the restoration of the once extremely powerful set of four wheels. After the degree was over, along with the masters', the now considerably reduced group finally finished their five year long project, and even though just about the only stock part left was the chassis, the Camaro was once again at its prime, with a monstrous 7.0L V8 at its front in all of its costly, noisy brilliance.
She had, unconsciously, carved herself a path into the world of the outlaws, and seeing herself in this situation was shameful enough for her to deem herself "oddly found" when she finally realized it. Astrid still bears her ultimate dream in her mind: to one day be cheered upon by all for being one of, if not even the greatest driver there ever was.
