Biography

The following is a transcript of the dialogue from the title sequence and epilogue.

Isaac and his mother lived alone in a small house on a hill. Isaac kept to himself, drawing pictures and playing with his toys as his mom watched Christian broadcasts on the television. Life was simple, and they were both happy. That was, until the day Isaac’s mom heard a voice from above. “Your son has become corrupted by sin. He needs to be saved.” “I will do my best to save him my Lord,” Isaac’s mother replied, rushing into Isaac’s room, removing all that was evil from his life. Again the voice called to her, "Isaac’s soul is still corrupt. He needs to be cut off from all that is evil in this world and confess his sins." “I will follow your instructions Lord. I have faith in thee,” Isaac’s mother replied as she locked Isaac in his room away from the evils of the world.

One last time, Isaac’s mom heard the voice of God calling to her. “You’ve have done as I have asked, but I still question your devotion to me. To prove your faith, I will ask one more thing of you." "Yes Lord, anything.” Isaac’s mother begged. "To prove your love and devotion, I require a sacrifice. Your son Isaac will be this sacrifice. Go into his room and end his life, as an offering to me to prove you love me above all else." "Yes Lord", she replied, grabbing a butcher’s knife from the kitchen.

Isaac, watching through a crack in his door, trembled in fear. Scrambling around his room to find a hiding place, he noticed a trapdoor to the basement hidden under his rug. Without hesitation, he flung open the hatch, just as his mother burst through his door and threw himself down, into the unknown depths below.

After journeying the depths...

Isaac was cornered. His mother, fueled with the desire to serve her God, was bearing down on Isaac. "I will do as I'm told, my Lord! I love you above all else!" Isaac's mother repeated to herself.

This was the end of the line for Isaac. His mother was far too strong for him...

But just as he accepted his fate, God intervened, sending an angel from above to stop his mother's hand.

And just like that...

It was over.
History:
Bio:
Isaac is the titular character of the series, reappearing from the original Binding of Isaac. Isaac is the first playable character, being unlocked at the start of the game. Isaac starts with three heart containers and one bomb by default. Once unlocked, he also starts with The D6, which rerolls any treasure into a completely different one.

Isaac is possibly the only child belonging to his Christian mother, who went ballistic trying to kill Isaac because God told her to. Panicking in his room, Isaac found a hidden trap door under his rug and jumped into it, discovering a basement. Along the way, he has found items that give him superhuman abilities to stop his mother. Once he dies, he just wakes up, back in the beginning of the basement, as if nothing happened. He decided to use this power to his advantage. Defeating his mother rewards him with a choice of two items: a polaroid of his family or a negative photo of the same image. After choosing, Isaac travels into the Womb of his mother, where he literally destroys her heart. After many, many deaths and heart kills, three new paths appear; a trapdoor leading into Sheol, a heavenly light leading into the Cathedral, and a second opening to the side of the Womb. Given the choice, Isaac would either fight Satan, himself, or Hush. If he fought Satan and has the Negative equipped, a chest will appear, sending Isaac to the endless black void that is the Dark Room to defeat the Lamb, a skeletal goat-monster. If Isaac fought himself and had the Polaroid equipped, he will be sent inside a maze inside a treasure chest where he will fight ???, the boss.

Before the Events:
Before any of this could've happened, Isaac lived a happy life with his mother and his father. For a reason unbeknownst to the players, his father left. After his departure, Isaac's mother went into a downward spiral; taking all kinds of pills and syringes, not feeding Isaac dog food rather than actual food, and feeling more rage than usual, to the point where some of that rage lashed out on Isaac in the form of physical abuse. And so whenever his mother wasn't furious, both of them lived a calm life. But the worst was yet to come. During his life, he was bullied constantly; people catching and laughing at him in the bathroom, pulling his pants down in front of a girl he liked (who laughed at him), and even being s*** on by other kids. He was unloved by everyone, even his mother.

Personality:
Isaac seems to have multiple personalities, each representing a different emotion or sin. His different "characters" are:
- Magdalene/Maggy = happiness, cheer, gluttony; has poofy blond hair and a Yum Heart with a large bite taken off
- Cain = greed, cockiness, pride; wears and eyepatch on his left eye and a peg leg for his left leg (his Luck Foot)
- Eve = depression, sadness; long black hair with a dead bird for a hair piece; when damaged enough, Eve will become a horned demon and her Dead Bird will come to life, attacking enemies
- Samson/Sam = anger, rage, wrath; shoulder-length brown hair and a bandana; his power grows with every kill
- Lazarus = desiring a second chance; has freckles and short ginger hair; once killed, he will be brought back to life with 1 health
- Judas = betrayal, evil; has a fez; has a Book of Belial, which boosts his damage
- ??? = ?????????; has a Poop and can't use Red Hearts to heal
- Eden = mystery; white hair that always changes, along with his equipment
- The Lost = weakness, desperate; a ghost of Isaac; dies in one hit, but can get infinite Devil Deals
- Azazel = guilt; a demon with red eyes, two horns (one is cut in half), and demon wings; can fire a short ranged Brimstone laser and has the tarot card "The Fool," which teleports him to the beginning of the floor
- Lilith = helplessness; like Azazel without the wings, crimson hip-length hair; has a blindfold that's slightly bleeding, accompanied by a tiny Incubus; has a Box of Friends, which can spawn more Incubi
He is a massive crybaby. Just please don't make him sad by being a jerk or reminding him of the depths or his dead pets or death.

In the end, no one knows what has happened to Isaac. Some say he escaped his mother, others say he's dead (Killed by Mom, asphyxiation in the chest, or trapped underground), others say he's trapped in a world between the living and the dead. No one knows for sure. All they know are in these endings.

Ending 1
Isaac opens and falls into the chest, which closes, locking him inside. The chest rattles a few times, and then a bright light comes out of it. Isaac then emerges from it as Eden. This unlocks said character, who has randomized starting items and stats.

Ending 2
Isaac opens the chest and finds Rubber Cement inside of it. He then uses it, and looks at the camera with white eyes and his eyelids stretched out. This unlocks said item, a passive item which makes your tears bounce off of enemies, objects, and walls.

Ending 3
Isaac opens the chest and finds a noose inside of it. He then hangs himself with it. This unlocks the item Transcendence, a passive item which gives Isaac flight.

Ending 4
Isaac opens the chest and finds a Wire Coat Hanger inside of it. He is then shown with it jammed into his head. This unlocks said item, a passive item which increases Isaac's Tears stat.

Ending 5
Isaac opens the chest. His mother is heard yelling his name. Her arm then comes out of the chest, sucker-punches Isaac, grabs him, and locks him inside of it. Mom's muffled laugh is then heard. This unlocks the achievement "Everything is Terrible", which makes the game harder in several ways.

Ending 6
Isaac opens the chest, but before he can reveal what he found, he becomes nauseous and vomits into the chest, creating several explosions. This unlocks the item Ipecac, a passive item which makes Isaac spit explosive projectiles.

Ending 7
Isaac opens the chest and finds a syringe with a yellow liquid inside of it. He is then shown deformed and happy. This unlocks the item Experimental Treatment, a passive item which randomly increases and decreases Isaac's stats.

Ending 8
Isaac opens the chest and finds a Quarter. This unlocks said item, a passive item which instantly gives Isaac 25 cents.

Ending 9
Isaac opens the chest and finds Dr. Fetus inside of it. He is then seen holding it wearing Dr. Fetus' characteristic top hat and monocle. This unlocks said item, a passive item which turns Isaac's tears into weaker bombs.

Ending 10
Isaac opens the chest and finds ??? lying inside of it. ??? sits up and smiles at him, which terrifies Isaac. This unlocks said character, who starts with The Poop and can only have soul hearts or black hearts.

Ending 11
Isaac opens the chest, and It Lives appears behind him. It Lives then growls and smiles at him. This unlocks said boss, a harder version of Mom's Heart which permanently replaces it.

Ending 12 (Defeating Satan)
Isaac opens the chest, which has a bright light coming out of it. The screen then cycles through various scenes of different characters in different places, before finally cycling to his room. Isaac then gets into the chest and closes it.

Ending 13 (Defeating Isaac)
Isaac is shown reading a Bible, and then he looks up at his mirror, which shows him with red eyes and a demonic skin tone. Believing he is full of sin, Isaac closes the bible and shamefully looks at a large chest in the corner of his room.

Ending 14 (Defeating ???)
Various pictures are shown of Isaac and his family, showing various events such as Isaac having a demonic shadow, his father leaving, and his angry mother holding a knife. The screen then fades to black and says "The End" with a chest next to it.

Ending 15 (Defeating the Lamb)
The camera slowly pans to the Missing Poster attached to a pole with Isaac's mother looking around in the background.

Ending 16 (Defeating Mega Satan)
Isaac is shown curled up inside of a chest with Guppy's paw visible. His breathing and heart rate gradually increase while pictures of a demonic Isaac flash onto the screen, until he makes the demonic transformation.

Ending 17 (Defeating Hush)
The cinematic begins showing the Missing Poster from Ending 15, with Isaac's home being in the background. The scene is changed to Isaac's chest, with his mother's shadow over it. The chest is popped open and multiple flies leave it. The chest is then opened up further, showing Isaac's skeletal remains. A spider can be seen crawling inside the eye hole of Isaac's skull and a fly zooms into the camera, then the scene switches over to a dull-colored ghastly landscape. Isaac pops out of a different box, and a large shadow forms behind him. The shadow then grows fangs and red eyes as the scene blacks out accompanied with Devil Room ambiance.

Ending 18 (Defeating Ultra Greed)
Isaac is shown inside a small cave, followed by Isaac turning around to see the cave entrance collapsing, trapping him and a few flies inside it. The screen then cuts back to the same cave, with the rocks being cleared to show a rotting shopkeeper. The shopkeeper suddenly smiles at the camera and the scene ends.
