• Backstory

  Ariel was born into a family of acrobats. While she grew up she became an acrobat herself and a violinst. For the first two years of her life her parents thought she was normal. Then she started talking. Normally this would be normal except she was talking backwards and unexpected things would happen. Her parents taught her to be quiet around other people and by age four she was talking both forwards and backwards, though backwards by choice. When she was eight the ringmaster found out about her talking backwards and realized it was causing her to use magic. He came up with a plan to get her to use her powers for what he wanted. He waited four years.
  
  When Ariel was twelve her parents fell to their deaths during a performance, and claiming to be her uncle, the ringmaster took her into his custody. He forced her to use her magic for what he wanted or else she would be punished. When she refused at age fourteen to do something for him he cut her side, leaving a foot long scar. She didn't refuse him after that
  
  He chose all her costumes since she was still doing acrobats on the trapeze. Things started getting worse when she turned sixteen. She put up with it for 3 years, not able to do anything out of fear. On her nineteenth birthday she finally had had enough and didn't care if she was hurt. She lost control of her magic for about an hour, destroying most of the circus she had grown up in. Luckily no one was injured. When she finally came to her senses she was horrified and ran away. She's been running for about a month now.

• Magic

  Ariel has the ability to use what she calls backwards magic. It has a very wide range of use and spells, but using it wears Ariel out and she can only use it so much at once. The bigger the spell the more she is drained
