• Biography

  In the diverse expansive African Savanna's, there lies more than what meets the eye. Obscurity, among other factors, ensures it's concealment. The matters of the simpler folk that's rudimentary civilizations dot the landscape finds little prominence among their modern counterparts, and perhaps as it should be. Renowned to play host to the largest ungulates migration, varying ecosystems, and creatures exclusive to the area...this is the knowledge that has been tried, assessed and confirmed. Facts. Certain aspects of select cultures, in turn, are considered inane in due to lack of concrete evidence of realism. Absurd belief manifested in traditional stories by way of the mouth. Despite the singular, critical view of the modern civilizations, they hold a significant symbolism with these simple folk...an adamant behavior of consideration that is not left unrewarded of that righteous superstitious belief.
  
  Beyond the veil of accepted possibilities of the modern world lies a primeval power within these lands. It is known as 'The Land of Celestial Rebirth'; 'The Eternity Circuit'. A firm acknowledgement in the practice of reincarnation, that every vestige of life, no matter how seemingly insignificant, materialized into another form in its passing. Irrelevancy plays an important role, as it mattered not what the creature once was, only what it is after. Sentient, non-sentient. Origins held no presence in the matter. Natural selection would ensure proper manifestation; where, when and how it is necessitated. A greater abundance of prey creatures required...? The direction will shift to fulfill this natural need. Overabundance of predators...? Famine, lack of prey. A cycle set forth by Nature; Mother Nature.
  
  This is the Eternity Circuit, a forever lasting cycle that does not cease, and shan't. However...even Mother Nature cannot stymie the unnatural, the imbalance of irregularity tossed into its constant. For this, there is an appointed equilibrium, an individual tasked to act as an extension of its will to root out and resolve this imbalance; for anything less would be utmost disaster and bring untold woe to all that inhabit the lands.
  
  There are those that are marked immediately from birth, often times before they're introduced to the world, that are to walk the path of the Witch Doctor. Beast Master, Soul Seer, Overseer, Rune Priest; it matters not what many names one associates with him or her. What matters is the importance this individual plays as an invaluable role. Commonly revered as nothing short of a Demi-God in those tribes who harbor such a being, their unshakable belief holds a tithe of truth. While not technically a Demi-God, this individual is certainly susceptible to the common flaws of mortality. Magic is the answer. Necromancy, a practice that one would believe to be held as nefarious, and often is. This is why Nature selects any given to-be child in unquestionable unanimity, nor is it done in a illogical, aimless manner.
  
  In a time when the current Witch Doctor is nearing his or her foreseeable end, he or she will return back to their original tribe. A ritual is traditionally prepared and hosted before their arrival, giving praise and gratitude to that who served his or her role with undying diligence and kept the balance pure. This ritual enacts the inevitability of the return of the Soul Seer, marking the unborn child of a selected tribeswoman. Upon his or her meticulously arranged deathbed, the passing of the Witch Doctor heralds the birth of the marked child. This child is often recognized through the fact that his or her mother passes giving birth, as too does the father become claimed; it is an established acceptance, one gladly given. Nor is it an act of cruelty demanded from an unjust tyrannical, hungry obscure divinity. This...? This is preparation.
  
  Solitude. The newborn Witch Doctor, like all of his or her kind, lead a life unfettered by the presence of others. A process never thoroughly investigated, but one long since instilled as essential, never to be questioned by doubt. Forever marked, an appointed couple will collect the newborn and promptly carry it out into the moonlit savanna. Where the newborn is taken...? The appointed couple never speak. How the newborn can even begin to survive by his or her own...? That, too, is an enigma. One never questioned as well by doubt. Not now, not ever.
  
  Only that the cycle begins again.
  
  Eventuality will see to it that the presence of the new Witch Doctor will be recognized. A period of vulnerability would befall all creatures in the lands in the temporary absence of the Witch Doctor; famine, terrible droughts and lack of necessities in general. Only until these woes are quelled does the knowledge of balance by the Witch Doctor come to prominence.
  
  One must understand the nature of the Witch Doctor. He or she have the innate knowledge that a youngling shouldn't possess by any rights, the access to wisdom unattainable by conventional means; and it is just that. In a very literal conveyance, the previous Witch Doctor has become the newborn. All and anything learned in the previous life kept solid as if it were yesterday. Witch Doctors are nothing more than individuals sharing a body with the same one from the last, although they all possess their own unique persona nonetheless. It is this vast knowledge accumulated over countless years that provides a potent reassurance to balance, that the newly appointed Witch Doctor will surely not fail in his or her duties with such an infallible process.
  
  Still, he or she is mortal and will find an ending sooner or later. Only the aforementioned Magic that is lent to them is their saving grace to such fragility, for it is merely not mortal creatures that Witch Doctors confront. Too, do creatures of another realm entirely, the Ethereal Planes and beyond, find them. Or they are found. Regardless, such nefarious beings are never tolerated and often confronted in the intent of banishing them from the lands, for their presence is nothing but imminent danger to life.
  
  The extent of the Witch Doctors Necromancy can conjure Ethereals from the nether-realms for simple assistance. Most commonly, it is used to manipulate a soul, spirit often times found leaving its mortal shell. And this is where the importance of the Witch Doctor comes into play.
  
  There are those spirits that do not find the Eternity Circuit, lost in between that and their mortal shell. Such vulnerable spirits are susceptible to corruption by lurking ethereal predators, which can taint said spirits and send them into the Eternity Circuit to do the same; when this is done, famine, terrible droughts and other such ill-fortunes befall the land almost immediately. To that end, it is the sole duty of the Witch Doctor to ensure that all the lands spirits are directed accordingly.
  
  On rare occasions, there has been outsiders that come into the lands and suffer death; in these cases, the Witch Doctor will often attempt to find an alternative form for them. Or soul transformation, more or less, merging them with that of an animal. After all, they're not of these lands and have no place. If even that is impossible...the Witch Doctor will simply keep the lost soul until a resolution can be discovered, but...this is warned against. Forbidden. Matters of those outside are none to those here.
  
  As one can clearly see, the Witch Doctor is a rather important element. His or days may be spent in solitude, wandering the lands without a permanent place to call a home to never return to his or her people, but...all is his or her home. He or she goes where they are needed and when. Only until the beginning of the next Witch Doctor is forthwith, will he or she return to their tribes people.

  Conservative Witch Doctors is a known fact. Tradition and ritual are very important values to them. As much as this is to the current Witch Doctor, Atsu Wasswa, there is an undeniable oddity to the Aardwolf. Foremost, his tendency to enact upon the affairs of foreigners that visit his vast realm. This mostly includes poachers, but not limited to such. Apparently, the Witch Doctor has an immense sense of comical irony in transforming the former poachers into the very animal that they had killed. Only to be killed themselves by poachers shortly after. Secondly, his dabbling in the lost spirits of outsiders is considerably more active than any previous Witch Doctor before him, giving rise to the possibility of potential radical behavior and the consequences as such. What he does with them is his to figure, given they're in a 'grey area', so to speak. His jurisdiction is allowed. Whimsical in nature, the possibilities of the spirit's fate is unknown while in his hands. Needless to say, interesting...scenarios arise from it, whether good or bad to the spirit in question.
  
  Despite Atsu's bizarre and borderline radical behavior, his abilities aren't to be dismissed. Considered one of the most competent Witch Doctors, it would seem that superiority comes with sensible quirks in return. In certain situations, the previous Witch Doctor's soul sharing his body will speak to him in order to keep the Aardwolf in check; this is usually perceived as a tinge of insanity to those that don't know anything about him when he begins speaking to no one in particular in the midst of conversation. Then again, when you've confronted somebody alone and dressed in...peculiar style of 'clothing' such as he, one would be entitled to believe just that.
  
  In any occasion that he comes across an individual, or spirit, that originated from elsewhere and not from these lands, the Aardwolf has a fixation of referring to them as 'Starchild' despite referring to them in name when he's aware of it. Given there is no concept of 'Heaven' and simple 'Rebirth', that doesn't mean he isn't knowledgeable of other beliefs. That being said, Starchild is a direct reference to where they all eventually go; up toward the stars.
