• Biography

  Jared's family life was somewhat chaotic in his formative years. His parents were devout Catholics and loving caretakers, so they did the best they could for their son and their two younger daughters, but due to Mr. Carmichael's job, the family moved several times during Jared's childhood. Due to this, he had difficulty maintaining friendships over the years, which jaded his outlook on life to some extent. When he eventually moved away from his family to attend college, for a time, he lost faith in many of his previous beliefs and avoided interacting with people all together, instead burying himself in his studies and work. His will to continue on in school and life drained out of him due to lack of support and pessimism, until at some point late in the semester, he began to notice things.
  
  At first it was small things; cold feelings in certain areas, weighty sensations in the pit of his stomach when talking to certain people, and flickers of movement in the corner of his eyes. Then, one day, for a split second, he saw something that shook him to his core. One day, while picking up groceries, he noticed a bedraggled looking homeless man asking for money on the corner of a sidewalk. When he turned to give the man some of his change, he saw for a fraction of an instant, a hunched figure digging its talons deep into to the back of the panhandler. The thing looked like a glittering, evil fairy made up of sharp shards of bluish crystal and thick white smoke, with razor edged claws, insect like wings, and polished black eyes. Jared was dumbfounded by what he saw, and the image of the man and the creature was burned into his subconscious for weeks. His dreams afforded him no respite either, as his mind showed him this and other images like it. After many weeks of nightmare induced sleep deprivation, he began to research just what he might have seen, and all of his research and previously forgotten religious teachings lead him to one conclusion; he was sensing and seeing demons.
  
  Since the incident, he has pulled out of his funk somewhat. This new ability he had somehow developed interested him, and allowed him to sense the pains and hurts of people around him more than he had been able to do before. While he still has difficulty with life and people, he is determined to learn more about his newfound ability and how it can be used to better the lives of his friends.

• Misc. Details

  Interests: Reading, sketching and digital art, psychology, instrumental music (jazz, classical, soundtrack, etc), historical mythology
  
  Talents & Skills: Playing the piano, minimal self defense skills, first aid/CPR training, supernatural sense, gives excellent massages
  
  Flaws: Difficulty focusing, gets overprotective when people close to him are threatened, naturally avoidant/distrustful of people outside his circles, bit of a messiah complex
  
  Other Info: Jared has gone through multiple phases of what his career plans are. He has previously considered counselor, massage therapist, high-school English teacher, and has settled for the moment on graphic designer, although he still isn't one-hundred percent on what he wants to do. He currently works teaching after-school reading lessons at the public library and as an assistant in the computer lab at his school.
