Curseborns.
➴Curseborns are not common occurrences. They are the result of when two sinful individuals reproduce and, whilst still in the womb, a supernatural entity, typically a demon of high standing, chooses the child to carry the curse within their blood. To do so, the demon approaches the mother each night whilst she rests, and channels the powers needed to curse the infant into the mother. The ritual weakens the demon, which is why it is not a common thing. ➴They are more prone to suffering with mental health conditions. Insomnia is the most typical of these, contributed to by the nightmares they tend to suffer whilst they sleep. As they rest, the curse within them reveals their purpose to their subconscious, regardless of whether the Curseborn knows what they are or not. They often include but are not limited to, the sensations of being watched, being drained of energy, strength and blood, hearing voices around them, and suffering from cold sweats as they sleep, filled with fear. ➴ They effectively act as an amplifier to all magical and supernatural powers around them. Wizards and witches will feel a growth in their spell power, a vampire and enhancement to their speed and strength and so on, just from being around a Curseborn. Their blood contains a more concentrated link to the enhancement that works on consumption, though too much can overload the system, cause sickness much like the flu and, if continuously abused, can risk death. ➴ Curseborns are completely human and very much mortal. They possess no strength in themselves beyond what any other person would. They cannot control the curse, and cannot ever be rid of it. They will live and die as any other mortal. Once a Curseborn dies, their blood, including any harvested prior to death, loses its properties and becomes useless. |
History.
➴Alexandrie was born to a whore mother, who conceived her with a man on the run, wanted for murder. She was not destined to have an easy childhood, and right from birth she received no love and little attention from the woman who created her. As a child, she was often told to stay in the cellar, out of the way whilst her mother worked. Many nights, Alexandrie would cry herself to sleep, trying to drown out the noises she heard from above. ➴ When Alexandrie turned sixteen years of age, her mother suddenly lost her anger and resentment towards her daughter. She had grown into a slender but pretty young woman, and could prove to be a valuable source of extra income. Whilst her daughter resisted, pleaded and begged to be left alone, her mother would not hear her cries. Men came and used her, to the same purpose they did her mother. Not knowing what to do, terrified and alone, she became numb to what was happening, and what was going on around her, blocking life and people out. ➴ On the eve of her nineteenth birthday, after having endured another long night of male clients and more of her soul being crushed, staring at her reflection, Alex came to realize that she did not want to be the sad girl that was staring back at her. She did not want to live the same life as her mother. Taking up a knife, she cut away long locks of hair, until nothing but short, choppy locks lingered. Snatching up some clothing left behind from a client, she donned his attire and taking nothing more than some spare coin, she fled, to never look back. ➴ Alex has become a skilled pickpocket and thief, getting by on what is stolen and, more often than not, does all that can be to avoid interacting with anyone. |
