• Ace's Account on Cora's Face

  Catching her off-guard was the best way to form a misconception of Cora. Unfortunately for her, she was always always off guard.
  
  When focused, she held a look so viciously intense that Ace often thought at any moment she’d leap forward and attack whatever she was eyeing.
  Cora was, for all intents and purposes, dark. It was not only in her aura, but her features as well.
  Her large frame and tanned skin rippled with underlying strength, and her thick lashes and eyebrows were strikingly intimidating. It didn’t help that they were near constantly furrowed, only adding to the energy in her brown eyes. Yeah, he could see why most would find her unapproachable.
  
  But spotting Cora with a close friend was something completely new, something Ace wished more people caught light of. Like now, seeing her chat with Rin as the three of them walked together to their complex. Suddenly the look in her eyes wouldn’t seem so angry; passionate rather. The rippling muscles became ones of protection, not aggression. And her mouth, so naturally pulled into a frown, was now open wide, curved wide, and laughing. She was so dark, but she could shine, if only you caught her at the right time.
  
  That wasn't to say you couldn't get on her bad side, oh no you certainly could. And Ace felt truly sorry for whoever was on the receiving end of Cora's power. He was lucky, he decided, to be someone Cora held affection for. Because though typically passive, too unbothered to be easily pissed off, an angry Cora equals destruction of some sort.
  
  As someone with a liking for riddles, Ace often pictured her as a one. She was someone fervent, yet listless, passive yet defensive, independent yet sociable, detached yet warm. He wondered how someone so contradictory could be the person he found easiest to connect to, the person who comforted him best when he was at his worst.
  
  But perhaps that was it, perhaps Cora's contrasting traits let her fit the mold for all kinds of people. The way she could naturally match anyone's wavelength made her a jack-of-all-trades.
  This sudden thought made Ace relieved that her resting expression was so off-putting; he was content with others being unaware of her easily adaptable personality behind it.
  For someone who so vehemently disliked change, Cora was constantly changing herself.
