• History

  General description: Southern Sergal
  Eyes: Blue
  Height: 1.75 meters
  Coat pattern and colour is about average for a southerner, brown/dark-brown to tan almost like a coyote..
  Weight: Probably about 150 lbs
  Build: Lithe and semi-skinny, he's more of the 'scout'-type then the 'warrior' type.
  Quirks: was born colour blind, playful on occasion, and is determined in his tasks.
  
  
  
  
  Zakar is a Southern Sergal with long ears, blue eyes, and a brown/off-tan fur pattern, thin and lithe, about 1.75 meters tall. He has only a few minor mostly healed scars on his face, most of his remaining scars also being on his body from a point in his history. He generally wears flowing light clothing for trekking across arid, often hot dusty and windy landscapes.
  
  He's recently got ahold of some light leather with some steel-plates, and wears that for combat protection.
  
  He doesn't have many qualms about walking around nude though if he needs to.
  
  He will occasionally mix meat into his diet as either necessity or wish.
  As to cannibalism, he knows it isn't alien to Clan Shigu Sergals, Zakar dislikes it highly.
  
  If Zakar is clothed, he also tends to carry a knapsack around which he keeps a number of essentials.
  Additionally, a belt which he occasionally carries a few pouches, a leather sling (the weapon kind), and a Machete and buckler.. later on switched to a Falcata.
  
  
  He is very deft of hand and body, having gained his dexterity and agility from years of surviving on it.
  He also tends to be quiet and sneaky when alone, preferring to avoid direct confrontation with anyone who might view him as an enemy or a target.
  
  
  A back-story on the character (so far..):
  
  Spent most of his childhood life with his family in a smallish village near the border of the Sailzane desert, heading into the Northern temperate and mountainous lands. His family's name was his Clan's, 'Yachy'. He learned to hunt/farm/survive in the wilderness/etc like a normal Sergal youth, as well as the various other aspects of upbringing specific to southerns like reading/writing and history. His father stressed the importance of knowing how to defend yourself, thus from early age he trained his children in the use of various weaponry. The preferred fighting style of his late father was a glaive, but Zakar never really got the hang of the weapon. Zakar took up the machete and buckler, also took up the sling as a hobby that later turned useful.
  The village was basically almost like a large tribe or really large extended family, although they did trade with nearby towns.
  
  Zakar village had the bad luck of being one of the early villages General Rain Silves attacked as part of her conquest of the Sailzane desert.
  
  Zak blocked most of the event out, only remembering bits and pieces on occasion via nightmares or flashes, and has no idea or recollection why he alone was spared.
  
  Zak does, however, remember spending his maturing life wandering to various newly-conquested southern villages.
  He worked for money when he could, dodged the Northern Army, hunted the desert for food, though often having to resort to stealing to survive.
  
  At one point, he tried stealing from some drunk Northerns in a town... which turned out horribly for him. Zak doesn't like to talk about it much, but that is where he gained most of his body scars, as it seemed those particular northern Sergals had a love for torture via hot iron weapons.
  
  He was able to use his limberness to escape capture when un-observed, as the northerns would have more than likely flayed and eaten him if he hadn't.
  
  One of his occupations was part of a mercenary gang, typically using stealth to assault and raid caravans or couriers. He occasionally played a key role the 'wet' jobs as well.
  That worked out for a while, but eventually internal conflict sent him to search for more respectable work of his own..
  He traveled north to Tatola and took up an offer from some Nevreans to recover an artifact.. one that was located in nearby mountains.
  Zakar was unfamiliar with the cold and snowy environment, but took extra-warm clothes and gear.. he was told to expect a camp of Northerners but found nothing but snow and bones.. strange!
  
  He searched, accidentally stumbling into a group of Talyxians who were enjoying their Northerner meals and recent acquisitions. He was captured, but their leader, who showed a greater tolerance for him than he would have expected, decided to test him out of amusement.. silently knowing he would fail it, knowing they would kill him when he did.
  
  They listened to his story about the artifact and and gave it to him. They had found it among the corpses after having been attracted by strange lights, they themselves had not killed the northerner camp but instead found only smoking bodies.
  They told Zakar that it would bring great destruction upon the Nevreans were they to to gain it. He was let free, but followed silently.. Zakar made it only halfway down the mountain before stopping and sitting.. staring at the strange thing lost in thought.. then headed back up to the mountain to offer the artifact back.
  
  They were highly surprised (to say the least!), and accepted him as an apprentice.
  They taught him many things, among them: Use of the Falcata, how to heal with herbs, how to achieve meditation and inner-peace, the finer points of honor, how to be more stealthy, and how to use his body itself as a weapon.
  
  Even with this, Zakar lives in a constant state of mental pain from his past, something that creeps up on him on unexpected, horrible ways.
  
  
  Personality quirks:
  
  Won't kill for sport but will assist his friends or allies, as well as to 'finish' a job..
  
  A bit more 'roughneck' then your average southener.
  
  Owns and is owned by nobody.
  
  Prefers eating plants to hunting.
  
  He tries to keep an overall happy outlook on life... He figures he's survived one too many 'lethal' encounters to be overly depressed about his past.
  
  Tries to think about things abstractly instead of bluntly.
  
  Gives each new person he meets a chance to prove this instead of jumping to conclusions.
  
  Has nasty flashbacks in rare occasions, an example could be like:
  "Zakar groans as he cracks his eyes, his view shifting to the bloody knifes protruding from his chest, bleakly wondering how he is still alive.. he is reminded of his father's nearly flayed still-alive but bleeding corpse, and over him cruel cackling enraged eyes staring hungrily at another potential kill"
  
  These are mostly triggered by near-death events or just nightmares.
  
  He hates stealing, but will do it to survive..
