  Caltika was born to a rich noble lord. Her mother had died in labor from an annuerysm. But no one blamed or hated Caltika for it, not when she had the same shining sweetness about her that came as naturally to her as breathing.
  
  But alas, not everything was perfect. With her sweetness came a deadly mind that had a knack for tactics. And she had a passion for war. She read up on all past wars, would create her own scenarios and plan her own strategies.
  
  Though her father wanted her to marry some military general, he couldn't stop her from becoming a general herself. The men who worked under her believed that she had used sexual favors to gain her position, as she was a very attractive young woman at this time. That is, until the first battle they were put up against.
  
  She fought with a dancer's grace, and a with the heart of a merciless cold killer. She had shown her men that she had busted her rear for her position, and from that day forward, she had the respect of all the men.
  
  So she lived a happy life with a good job and a loving father. Until a random attack at her family's island estate left her father half-dead, multilated, and then burned alive.
  
  That was all it took to turn the once happy-go-lucky young woman into a cold-hearted, truly merciless, hateful killer. Whenever her troops were sent out, she often went alone because her cold, burning rage often scared the opponents senseless, which made them easy targets for killing.
  
  This went on for years. Finally she was discharged from the military for having gone truly insane. Her anger swiftly changed to depression, and she tried to kill herself many times, each time never finding it within herself to do it.
  
  Furious at herself, she wandered over the island one night and stumbled upon her deceased father's ghost. Thinking she was hallucinating, she listened to her father ramble on and on about how she was a descendant of some magical race that was the reason she had such a gift for combat. Then he vanished, leaving her utterly confused.
  
  She didn't have long to ponder on her hallucination, for she had a family business and estate to run. She dove right into it, rising the Evermeer name to higher levels than anyone in her family before.
  
  Ten years later, she had matured, and, despite her heart being stone cold now, she was still a charming, kind woman. But now that everthing was taking care of itself with minimal supervision from her, she began to study things she could not have had time for prior. These things included magick.
  
  She pored through her father's library, certain that he had a section on such, and she had found correct. These books were basic beginner books, though, but she cared not. She needed to start someplace, yes?
  
  She learned how to make a simple fireball, able to let it float freely and use no wood or oil for fuel, simply her own willpower let it burn as bright as she saw fit. Discovering a vast resevoir of energy that could be bent into the power for these things she was learning, she continued to read the books, making her own notes, and all the while using the fireball she'd learned first.
  
  Caltika practiced at this for months on end, until she had it perfected to the point where a simple glance could brignten or dim it, or snuff it out completely only to be reignited at a later time. She began to wonder what else she could do with this resevoir that seemed to flow within her.
  
  So she began to scrounge the library her father spent years building and adding to its long list of titles. She found nothing, until a random glance at a title had her pulling it out. It was her favorite book, but on the inside said, "I love this book, my daughter. I hope you do too." It was signed from her mother.
  
  Shocked, she ran to her room, only to find her own copy where it was, untouched. Heading back to the library, she flipped through the pages, finding a note between two. She pulled it out and set the book aside.
  
  The note depicted a heart surrounded by a flower lei, the same design on the carpet. It gave instructions and an phrase to chant out. Caltika did so, revealing a secret entry to an underground library, filled with the books Caltika had been seeking.
  
  She began to read, study, and master the contents in each and every one of the books down there. She read of spells for bending weaker wills to her gentle command, for nurturing plantlife upon a moment's thought.
