  BACKGROUND» Born in Louisiana in the late 1700s, Elodié grew up as the daughter of two free people of colour. She lived most of her early life in the French Quarter in New Orleans with her parents and siblings, until she caught the eye of the son of a plantation owner. At the age of 18 she married Louis Pelletier, gaining a life of luxury. While it was initially a rather awkward affair, seeing as Louis was 7 years her senior and she felt little attraction to him, the two of them got along well enough and he was entirely infatuated with her. They stayed in New Orleans together until Louis's father died and he had to leave the city in order to run the plantation his father had left him. Elodié, however, insisted on keeping their house in the city and would stay there through most of the year, rarely joining her husband on the plantation near Baton Rouge - despite the fact that they had two young daughters.
  
  Elodié had known about her magical heritage since childhood, as it was passed down to her from her mother's side of the family, and she had plenty of opportunity to develop her talent in the French Quarter. It had quickly become apparent that she was gifted, not to mention powerful, and by the time she had become an adult, she was a household name in the Quarter. It was her deep roots in this community that would eventually be part of her downfall.
  Over the years Elodié had enjoyed a fairly innocent flirtation with a man from the French Quarter, who was also involved in the practice of magic. They eventually turned their fling into an actual affair. Trouble was that this man had, unbeknownst to Elodié, left behind a scorned lover and a child for her. The woman felt that her child had been robbed of a parent and exacted revenge - not only on her former lover, but on Elodié as well. A curse was placed, ensuring that Elodié would not be around to see her daughters grow up and that her spirit would never find rest because of this. For several years the curse had her catatonic, completely out of touch with the world. By the time she awoke she learned that both her daughters had succumbed to a severe case of scarlet fever and that she herself was believed to have drowned in the Mississippi about the time she was cursed. Enraged and terrified of the thought of dying only to have her spirit trapped, Elodié struck up a deal with a familiar that had ties to her family, ensuring that she would not age - or that she would at least have more time to find a way to reverse the curse. She has hardly aged a day since and still looks much the same today as she did on the day she was cursed. The ordeal had a huge impact on her and left her a much more immoral person than she was previously.
  
  Still heavily involved with the occult, Elodié sells her skills to anyone willing to pay the price with little consideration as to whether or not the morality of the task is good or not. She takes various forms of payment, ranging from money to favors, but always collects her debt. Over the years she has had several relationships, taking lovers of both genders with little discrimination, but has made very few meaningful connections.   PERSONALITY» In her younger years, Elodié was softspoken, meak and acquiescent. She is very much done with that these days. Having been through her fair share of hardships, her skin has grown quite thick. She is aalm person, giving off aserene aura, but if one has the slightest talent of reading people, it is clear to see that there is more going on behind her easy-going exterior. Elodié is a listener, prefering to let others speak and not reveal a lot about herself. She seems very forthcoming and helpful, often offering to help others - but with Elodié everything comes at a price. She is intelligent and has a sharp memory, making it unlikely that she will forget a debt. She also carries grudges and is not above exacting revenge. Ultimately she values her own interest over that of others and will rarely do something that will incovenience herself or put her in harms way to aid others. She is confident in herself and her abilities, but also aware of her limits and will never make them or herself out to be more than they are. Her self-assurance has made her very goal-oriented and she will fight tooth and nail to get what she wants, when she wants it.   APPEARANCE» Elodié is a fairly short woman, being of just below average modern height, with a matching built. She has a small bust, a narrow waist and full hips, giving her what would commonly be described as a pear-shaped body. Her skin is a tan almond color and fairly smooth. She has some scarring by her hands, but they are old and faded, making them hard to notice. Over the years she has gotten a few tattos, which are scattered around her body (left wrist, left lower arm*, right lower arm**, back). They are all small to medium sized, apart from the one on her back, which stretches from just below the nape of her neck to her lower back. She also has several piercings, including a septum, one in her right nostril and several in her earlobes. She often avoids using them all at ones, despite being very fond of jewellery and accessories. Elodié's eyes are slightly narrow, heavily-lidded and of a hazel color. Her black hair stands as a nice contrast to the lightness of her eyes. It is extremely long, reaching below her waist, but most of it is extensions added to her natural hair. She likes to look good and will usually be wearing an array of accessories and clothes that flatter her body. Sometimes "flattering" borders a lot on "reavealing", but her confident demeanour means she pulls it off nonetheless.
