Trys'tet Grove

As far as species are concerned, the trys’tet are quite a young player on the scene. Compared to other species that have been around thousands, even tens of thousands of years, the trys’tet, the first of them, is only about two thousand years old. Their beginnings are steeped in strife and suffering. They are a species that was born of the earth and shadow.

It began shortly after Tykari’s first rebirth, after her father had slain her. Her rebirth entailed that her soul was placed within a seed and implanted into her mother, Larish’s, body to be grown and be born of both her treant heritage and shadowlyng heritage, a combination that she discovered would be hated and despised through the ages. It was an existence that she despised, that she grew to hate, an existence where she adored the light, but the light was something to be feared and hated. It wasn’t until she had come across her uncle, Micheru, that her kind became enslaved utterly to the shadowlyngs by placing a seed of shadow within her that would split and divide and infect any she turned or any young she produced. During this time, Tykari used the opportunity to experiment, to forcibly alter herself utilizing her shapeshifting and alchemical means to change, to adapt to her lifestyle. With the ever-persisting presence of magic, and the nature of her experimentation into controlling her own body, she began to feel a persistent void, a gap that was widening between herself and access to magic. All that remained in her mind was her own strength of will, her own capability to project emotion, her own mental capacity as it were. These changes were an unnatural process, a process that the powers of Earth felt were a slight, a deviation, and an affront to nature. She was cursed with a terrible hunger, a hunger for blood, souls, flesh, emotions. It was an overwhelming hunger that she couldn’t sate, she couldn’t handle, and it began to take its toll over time.

Her evolution process wasn’t slow. It was very rapid, and it was forced, utilizing the strength of the land to force herself into an evolutionary state to become the creature she wished to be: a creature of pure internal force. She didn’t wish to rely on anyone else. She was alone, the only creature like herself for the longest time, even during her years of enslavement, she refused to rely on others. She even managed to separate soul from body, while keeping the soul tethered to the body to maintain a link and allow her to resist permanent death. It began with the planting of the soul seed, planted in a place that would eventually become The Silver Grove. (See below)

Fearing her own loneliness was almost unbearable, and with two she had met, two she fell in love with, she turned them at their behest, their desire to be with her in any capacity they could. The first of the new species, the trys’tet, was Dawson Capris. It was then that she knew how to conquer her hunger. With her own twisting of her kind, she spun into him a hunger for battle, a desire to protect and to be violent, a trait that she had expressed in herself. He would be the first of the Blood Clan, the warriors and protectors, the wrathful and the vengeful. Those that hunger for the flesh of the living.

Tamiko Inoue was the second one to become trys’tet after Dawson. She was to harbor much of the lust and desire to breed that Tykari had. She instilled into her that aspect, creating the first of the Lust Clan, the breeders and assassins. The ones that held her lust. Thus, dividing her own Sins into two separate groups, she harbored the others for new clans. She knew what she wanted to do, she knew it was going to require her to continue to split herself up in such a manner to ensure her own survival.

It wasn’t until after Dawson Capris and Tamiko Inoue joined the species that Tykari realized that they, too, would be slaves to the will of the shadowlyngs, slaves to their whims and it was something she could not put them through. Through sheer will of need, she sought out the help of another, a Strerosh, someone from her mother’s past. Strerosh agreed to help on account that the shadowlyngs were a threat to all and he surgically removed the dark seed and all remnants of it from her body. She took the seed, now free of her body, to Micheru and showed that she had freed herself from his control and crushed it.

Free at last, Tykari proceeded to remove the dark seed within the other two of her kind, to free them from their subservience to the shadowlyngs and freeing her kind from it and their enslavement to them. With their newfound freedom, Tykari worked on a way for them to build up their kind, but she would monitor who is turned.

There was still a darkness within Tykari, however. A darkness that lay dormant for a very long time and that was the shadowlyng part of her that was inborn. The last remnants of the horrible species that enslaved her kind. Tykari went on a journey to another realm where she would find herself a powerful cleric. A cleric that would ultimately decimate her shadowlyng heritage. Her body was flooded with a purely light energy, an energy her kind had been, until then, highly susceptible to. It scoured out the shadowlyng parts of her, but she had to pay a price to survive. The price was her eyesight. She would never again be able to see the world in a physical manner. The light had altered her energy alignment, focusing her on the positive energy, and granted her the ability to manifest light, photons, into specific ways. It wasn’t powerful, it was focused mainly on blades and cages with some light, but she felt that power within herself, a newfound ability. After a long time of training, she finally returned to her family.

The next to be changed was Lymsleia Lightfellow, the mate to her daughter, a half breed, Alia. She would be the first of the Earth Clan, the first to be the vessel of her Gluttony. She would suffer the need to consume the emotional energy, to gorge herself on the feelings of others.

She still had a fair way to go, and she would continue to work on it. She knew what she would do for three more clans. She was still harboring her sins, hungers that she knew that the Earth spirits cursed her and her kind with. She knew of a birth from her sister, whom had elected to not change and remain like their mother, but was a birth of a trys’tet. Mitsuko would harbor her sloth. The lethargic nature of seers and mystics was an apt vessel for her Sloth.
With, herself, being a new alignment of energy, she named herself Sun Clan and held her Envy for herself, her envy that so many others would never know the persecution she suffered. She held a seed for one final clan, the Moon Clan, those that held her Pride, proud and noble healers they would be.

That only left her greed. Her greed would be instilled into only one of her kind. The Trys’tet Prime, the ruler of her kind and the ones that would greedily reach out to consume and find those worthy of becoming their kind. The Prime, she decreed, would only be named by the prior Prime as their successor. They would only know the hunger of the clan they hailed from, but they would also know the greed.

With the chapter of creating and splitting herself into six, with only one as a seventh, she would know peace, she would know control and she knew that, despite the sins and the hungers of each of her kind, they would be their own people, be their own individuals, but each would feel that nagging need, that hunger and that Sin that dominated their Clan.

With her kind now repopulating, they sought a hidden away location to quietly begin the repopulation of her kind, a hidden location that would only know peace and freedom. A freedom that Tykari would do anything to maintain.
