PRONUNCIATION: Fyahn-dee (there is no plural form)
Fjándi are humanoid Norse forest spirits whose top half resemble horned demons and bottom half (tail and hind-paws) takes on the form of a squirrel or other small mammalian critter of their choosing. They are common in Norwegian wooded areas, where they serve as guardians, caretakers, and playful imps that often derive happiness from using other races for fun and pleasure.
Though most fjándi choose animals under the Rodentia order, including chipmunks, beavers, jerboa, and prairie dogs, others choose rabbits, hares, and pikas. They are chosen very carefully and it is considered a right of passage only for those ready for adulthood.
