• History

  Sophia Burton grew up happy and healthy. Her parents were attentive to her and her older brother, Blake. They went on vacations nearly every summer. They had family traditions. They were an average middle class family. Until the Sickness.
  
  The Sickness spread through the population at such a rapid pace that nobody was prepared for the final symptom - the Rising. The dead were not only coming back to "life", but devouring those who were left alive. Sophia's mother was one of them. She went to bed one afternoon, complaining of a fever and a headache. Before the sun rose, Sophia and Blake were woken up by the sounds of their father's pained screaming. Their mother was eating their father, and there was nothing they could do.
  
  The siblings fled, only to find that so many of their neighbors were fleeing as well. The situation was the same the world over, it seemed. The radio broadcasts went on for as long as they could. In some places, they were still broadcasting.
