Dusty Acton

Dusty Bernadette Acton was born in 1940 by the second-gen vampire Dominik and his wife, Mable, a human from Korea he turned some years before. She was raised in the vampire sector of hell, quickly falling into their family dynamic. Her mother loved her very much, dressing her up, taking her out and spending lots of time with her while her father was more distant and parented from the sidelines. her mother would take her up to earth every once in a while to visit a city or new little place and get some ice cream or some other little activity. This was what Dusty looked forward too most in her past, and every time she saw her mother pull out the 'earth clothes' she got excited. She and her mother grew very close, and to this day, Dusty loves her mom very much. Oh the other hand, her father. She felt as if he never made an effort to be with Dusty, so she didn't either. And over time, walls and distance grew between them.

She grew up confident and curious, climbing everything and talking to everyone. She was quickly accepted in a small friend group of kids who would go around and have their fun exploring around different areas. When she hit the age of 9, her mother became pregnant, and Dusty was instantly excited by the idea of having a little sibling. She started to less and less go out with her friends to go flying or playing around and rather stay home to help her mom with anything she could. When the baby was born, she had a brother named Jake, a name she suggested. Dusty babysat and played with Jake as much as she could and took him out to the park, to play, etc. Her personality, though, often ended with her getting distracted with kids her age and leaving him alone for periods of time. She would always feel guilty, especially when she would find him crying and being picked on by older kids.

And so, she started to learn and stick closer and closer to Jake's side, running to help him, fighting off other supernaturals and protecting him from the world. They were best friends, especially when Dusty's friends moved on and she was left more or less with only her brother. She was okay with that because he needed her. And so, as he grew up and started to live his own life, it was hard for her to adjust. Especially with the age gap and as school kept them moving along. He got his own friends and stopped hanging out with her, leaving her feeling lonely and rebellious. She was never horrible in school, but her grades really represented her effort. She stopped going to earth with her mom and got a small job at a hell cafe when she was 15.

She was always up to hanging out with her brother when he wanted to but found herself taking after her father and stopped making an effort to act or initiate. She got new friends, who were much calmer and didn't do much at all, and the occasional few month boyfriend who she always broke it off with before long. She picked up occasional smoking with them in a park or one of their houses and mellowed out by age 17, meeting her first real love, Harley, a low-class demon, who she lost her virginity to after around three months of being together. She started to show up late to work and felt less and less inclined to go, so she quit, leaving on a good note before she was fired. After graduation, when her father was starting to ask for rent, and when she turned 18, she took the first job she could. At a strip club. Her parents didn't approve so she moved out and into a small apartment with Harley, who supported her no matter what. He worked days and her nights, so they began to see less and less of each other, but neither really cared. They both had good moments at night and on their days off went on dates.

She was a server, but as time went on was convinced to dress in less and less clothing, started to enjoy the attention the people would give her she started to be more provocative on her own. Just before she hit 20, she had become a dancer herself. She liked the exercise and the attention but hated her boss and the industry. She quickly started to get tired out, and she started to get worried. While she was told by her partner it was normal, she knew like her horns it wasn't. While everyone was stopping ageing, her body was still progressing like a normal human. While all others her age, Harley himself at 19, stopped aging from 17-20, she was still showing signs of wear and tear.

She met Bradley, a first-gen vampire, one shift. He had seen her dance and paid to have a private show. She cleaned up and met him in a room, where instead of him sitting in a chair waiting, he was standing with his hands behind his back. He showered her with compliments, holding her hands and looking into her eyes with passion as he told her she shouldn't work in a place like this, that he could take her away and take care of her. He told her he had come just for her and was convinced of his feelings. She was obviously creeped out and took the money he still insisted she take and ran away, but was soon approached and handed a note which was stuck under a glass. A phone number and a name with a heart, "Bradley".

She didn't tell Harley a thing but sat on it for a few days. After not seeing Brad for days, she caved and gave him a text. He replied with haste and they began talking. It took a month of his constant positive attention for her to break it off with Harley, claiming it was time for her to move on, and jump right into the first-gens arms. Harley claimed he was okay with it, but upon seeing her in public, with or without Brad would turn and hurry off to take another route while avoiding eye contact, head hung low.

That hurt her to see, but was completely infatuated with her new lover, who seemed perfect in every way. She fell in love again and moved in with him. Things were passionate and full of love, well, until he started to make demands. She didn't feel like it, but if she was dancing for others, she owed him something at least. Soon, that wasn't enough and she quit her job on his request. She became more dependant, but she didn't seem to notice the red flags. A few months later, he convinced her to move to earth, and she almost instantly stopped seeing her family.

She and Bradley were together for five years, and with her still ageing normally, her stress began to build. Their relationship had become her whole life and her whole life toxic. He cheated on her, begun to use her and be straight up mean. But she somehow put up with it, not noticing or deliberately forcing herself not to, until she herself became pregnant at 26. Out of fear of his reaction, she kept it a secret until it became more noticeable and his comments on her needing to lose weight got to her, and she took a 'vacation'.

She went home, crying to her mom and explaining everything to her. Her mom supported her, and instantly went mother mode. Even her father promised her protection. And after a few months of her staying, carrying this child, Bradley showed up to the door. There were threats, but after Dominik convinced Bradley his daughter wasn't going to fall back under his rule, he spat one last insult and left.

Dusty caught up with everyone, and while she and her father never fully repaired their relationship, there was more respect and appreciation than before. She quickly began to feel better, and started to feel like her life was more and more in her hands, her body seemed to finally have caught up with her vampirism, but not before some stretch marks had appeared on her and were now permanently sealed into her. She didn't mind and grew more excited to meet her baby, who eventually did arrive. She gave birth in a hospital, but a feeling of unease came over her. She told the doctors as they took the baby to give him back, but was delirious from exhaustion and fell asleep still feeling anxiety. After waking and consuming copious amounts of blood to heal, she demanded to see the little baby boy she had named James.

Her family was there, and her mother tried to explain that something had happened and James had... Went missing. From that point on, Dusty wasn't the same. The first stop was Bradley, who after a thorough investigation was ruled out, but she never stopped. For 12 straight years, she did nothing but research, work, search and try to find her son. She left hell soon after, to avoid distractions, and moved to earth on her own in a small house she bought with money she saved up over the years. She's been there since, and only recently started to ease up on her search, it still constantly on her mind. She's started to become her own person, but still, her son comes up every day if not every conversation. She hasn't seen Bradley since, but couldn't care less.

She is lonely, but fills her time in ways she finds fulfilling.
