Arron [Lover, snack] Pup, what is this strange feeling? What is to come? This man has a habit of appearing in Zaany's life when they least expect it. At first, it was as a far too generous tip for an enjoyable performance; then, hundreds upon hundreds of miles away, there he was again, as if from nowhere. For Zaany, it is almost expected to see the man whenever least likely. Often offering himself as a meal for the Vaasa, Arron is an unlikely but much appreciated companion. |
Tristian [Apprentice] Nothing without your consent. A newly obtained apprentice, gotten through rather dishonest methods. Tristian was originally the slave of a demon who took Zaany captive after a failed feeding. Once free, Zaany kidnapped the werewolf, convinced him his owner had abandoned him (obtaining his papers to prove it), and, via dubious consent, took Tristian as apprentice. Tristian is now learning to be a bard, gifted gaudy silken robes and a flute to fit the role. |
Andrei [Nemesis] Fool me once... Found as a stowaway on a ship, Zaany had been quick to capitalize on the young human's vulnerability. An easy, obligatory meal! For quite a while afterward, the pair seemed to have a decent working relationship. That is, until the little bastard managed to finally get the attention of Cil'Raasv, the locals' death god. Well, things went quickly downhill from there. Eventually, kept under the priest's boot-heel, Zaany was bringing Andrei fresh bodies to experiment on on his way to undeath. It was once this undeath was achieved that Andrei's patience for the elf wore thin, and it was into a deep hole with 'em, left to rot. |
Chal'bajh [Master] This can't last forever. This won't. Thrown into a deep, deep pit to rot, left helpless, Zaany hadn't expected to see the light of day ever again...but for the dust-laden beams from the surface, of course. But it was here that they met Chal'bazh. Free him, he said, free him and Zaany will be saved. Free him. Desperate to survive, Zaany did just this - and quickly came under yet another's boot-heel. This time, a long-forgotten demi-god. A demi-god with great visions of the future, and an intense hatred for Cil'Raasv. Zaany was promised eventual vengeance upon Andrei, should they serve this pesky creature. Under Chal'bazh's command, Zaany has erected a 'temple' in the form of a bathhouse...and works diligently to supplement their Master's power. Or else. |
Neirin & Cinaed [Sons] ... Born twins, this was something Zaany never wanted. The very existence of these boys has been nothing but pain for Zaany, and they are nothing Zaany will ever claim. Cinaed is dead - a relief, after the vengeful abuse the boy inflicted upon his parent. And Neirin? A slave. Zaany is quite aware, and does their best not to be seen in the same space at the same time. Parent of the year. |
Myni [Daughter] ... Yet another unclaimed offspring. The story of this one is, in its own way, much more complicated. Through some magic mishap, a then-unknown pregnancy was expelled into a golden egg, of which a then-lover was quick to take ownership once discovered. Otherwise, it likely would have been left to the cold. Zaany has never met this child, and prefers to keep it that way. |
Paen [Ex-Lover, enemy] You are destruction. You are cruelty. If ever there was a time when Zaany was young, inexperienced, and vulnerable...it was then that this man entered their life. Barely an adult, Zaany was smitten by his attentions, by his sweet words. Every first, it was with him. When the demon within them blossomed, it was this man who ripped Zaany in half and bound the demon to a gem. When the twins came, it was this man who forced Zaany to endure their arrival. 'Well-Meaning' comes in many forms...not all of them just, not all of them good. It would be too soon if Zaany ever saw Paen again. |
Rama [Ex-Lover, snack] Fool. Yet another person to experience a youthful Zaany, this young witch was quick to offer herself up as a snack to the developing beast. More than a snack - she was a bounty of magic, and perhaps the main contributor to Zaany's sheer size as a Vaasa. For a long time, the exchange was delightfully worthwhile. Eventually, feelings developed. Zaany was expected to partake in Rama's friendships. But...worst of all, was the golden egg. The blasted golden egg. It was the last straw. Perhaps the only heartwarming thing here, for Zaany, would be the fact that it was Rama who finished Cinaed off. Comforting indeed. |
Feygan [Ex-Apprentice] It's mine. Zaany's first attempt at an apprenticeship - an utter failure, at that. Nonetheless, Zaany has taken something very precious from this one. |
Volgun [Chainbreaker] Do you know what you've done? Seller of fortunes, collector of magic, breaker of chains. And all it took was a teeny, tiny soul fragment. Oh, yes. Volgun does know what he's done. |
Daegon [Disaster] ... What happens when two predators try to eat each other? One wins. One loses...extravagantly. This encounter found Zaany on the losing end - not that they're complaining - and has left this monstrous elf with a vast, unfulfilled need, a fluttering in their belly whenever they catch even a brief glimpse of this haughty prince. One might easily say Zaany even goes out of their way for these glimpses.... Will their next encounter be quite so volatile? One can only hope. |
