• Biography

  She was adopted into a fairly normal family. She has a younger sister (non-biological). Her family is still living in Ontario while she is abroad in Scotland. Her father is a literature professor at University of Toronto specializing in Celtic mythology and her mother is a museum curator. Her younger sister is 17 years old at the beginning of the book. They used to have a family dog when she was younger and she had a pet cockatiel, which she gave to her sister before she moved to Scotland. She is in the first year of her masters degree in Botany at the University of Toronto and was granted a study abroad opportunity in Scotland, specifically to look at the mountain bearberry. She has a Bachelor of Science in Botany with a minor in Literature from U of T. She's always been closest with her dad and sister as her and her mom were so similar in their stubbornness that they tended to butt heads a lot.
