When Anna-Mae was eight years old, her parents were brutally murdered in front of her by a man named Dean Moon. He tied her Mother and Father up, then burned them alive whilst forcing Anna-Mae to watch. At the time, her Mother was twenty weeks pregnant with her third child. That moment made Anna-Mae value life more than anything else in the world. So if she ever sees someone who needs help, she'll do it no matter what the cost.

She and her younger sister Silvia were taken in by their God parents, Ian and Karen Creed, who cared for the girls like they were of their own flesh and blood. But the trauma of having seen her parents die was becoming too much for Anna-Mae to handle. On one occasion, she tried killing herself and would have succeeded if it hadn't been for her best friend and god sister Sookie.

After going to therapy, Anna-Mae turned her life around and started making massive improvements. She focused on her education, taking the necessary courses to become a vet and moved out on her sixteenth birthday. She now lives in a caravan in the woods, where she takes care of her self and gets everything she needs from the world around her.

Anna-Mae has always loved and been connected to the world around her. This is for a reason. Anna-Mae is actually the living embodiment of life itself, affecting everything around her. Plants grow well in her presence, the sun shines brighter when she's happy, and it rains when she's sad. The world lives and breathes with her. However, this is not something she is even aware of. So when strange things start happening around her that she can't explain, she begins to investigate.

Her journey takes her to the furthest reaches of the world, where she hears rumours of a man that lives in the mountains, able to discover things wrong with people that not even modern doctors have seen. Desperate answers, Anna-Mae travels to find this mysterious man, exhausting her time and energy to find him. When she does find him, she's on the point of exhaustion and collapses at his doorstep.

When she wakes, she finds herself laid out on his table, surrounded by complete strangers, one being a bald man wearing a pure white robe. He explains to her how she is different from people, how in fact she's not entirely human, and explains how she can use various powers and abilities to her benefit, or complete destruction.
