  personality. paychecks are opportunities to buy what you want, not opportunities to provide for yourself. if you get the result you wanted, the means of getting it don't matter all that much as long as they didn't fall right in the black area of morality. lies are social niceties and should be used every day. women are confusing, men are not. don't rock the boat unless stupid is actually happening and will inconvenience you. really moody. doesn't get mad in any way other than kind of twitching, rubbing the back of his head, and saying "well, why don't you do this instead?" once the problem is resolved, though, he's generally fine - though it's not very evident. will be friends with people he doesn't particularly like because it's not harming him and it's not harming them - it takes a while to wear down his patience in that regard, but he'll manage the hell out of them while they're in his company. really smart, pretty lazy. the biggest fucking grump you will ever meet externally. likes. clean environments. gift giving. nice speakers. cars. overstuffed chairs. socks and sandals. big dogs. sailing, skiing. lavish styles of life. decency, etiquette. movies. having assigned stuff for things; he makes his bacon on a griddle, he watches his news on cnn, he listens to his music on spotify, he buys his technology from apple - it's all very particular. comfortable clothing. being with people. saturday night live and big bang theory combined senses of humor. good conversation; if there's equal give and take, it doesn't really matter what it's about. burgers. fighting. dislikes. being disliked. being expected to fix other people's problems. small spaces. moral obligations. expectations, usually. rigid structures. the color red. places that are boringly decorated, but he doesn't really know that; it just affects his mood. messy places, alternatively. suits, but he'll wear them if that's what social norms dictate. anything gauche or abnormal. having too much of anything. repetition. the cold. distractions.

  .....his mother was incredibly sheltered, and in turn, sheltered him; his father didn't care enough to stop her. she wanted more than russia, and so vasili's father got her more than russia. at the age of four, vasili was moved to america, and the three of them lived in massachussetts, in a well-off neighborhood that had houses with age, prestige, and closed floor plans.
  
  .....he got two siblings shortly after: aleks and adelaide, in that order. his parents figured they needed less russian-sounding names if they were to fit in at school. vasili, of course, never got that option. he was more or less lukewarmly good in his studies at school. a's weren't rare, but neither were c's. he was always interested in technology. he was a tinkerer, and fixed people's toys and watched his dad in his shop when he worked on cars or when he built a rocking chair. he kept that fascination and kindled it to an avid interest in the internet, CPUs, sound systems, and how these devices communicated with each other. he and his siblings had fun when they went home after school by riding little electric motorcycles and helping in the gardens that his parents had, and sometimes a friend would come over.
  
  .....his college experience - during which he studied network engineering - was entertained by designing nice speaker systems in cars that he will never be able to afford. how, you ask? well, he went to a prestigious college, and he's never met a stranger - he can talk to anyone - and he got into a fraternity. one of the guys there had a dad that owned a big company, and vasili's interest in sound design paid off. his frat brother told his dad to give him a chance, and vasili pleased him; he was given a leg-up into the world of audio design for multiple venues.
  
  .....when he graduated college, he had amassed massive debt. larger than average. vasili's mother always wanted her creature comforts, and he did not fall far from that trait. he was a charge of the rich and famous and thus expected to live like the people he was so often around, and he spent money that he didn't have almost exclusively. he quit his day job once he realized he had dug himself into a hole and joined the army at the recommendation of his father to try and work off that debt. (he'd always been interested in the military, anyways.) he even managed to go into special forces alongside aleks, ranger training specifically, but dropped out before he completed training because his right calf muscle slipped during an exercise. aleks quit shortly after because he lost the drive to continue.
  
  .....he began an armed special combat forces training and consulting company with aleks that the military would be able to hire for specific jobs after that, and most of the business from there was shady at best. he sourced millions of dollars from an old couple in georgia to fund a massive amount of the operation with promises of returns on the investment and never repaid them. they regularly made claims that they fully intended to make good on, but were not true at the time, as bases for contractual agreements. the company fell apart when he hit thirty on account of it being a thinly veiled scam, and he filed bankruptcy on the massive house he was building at the time. the u.s. government-issued an indictment for aleks's arrest because he was the name on the company, and aleks fled the country for three years to avoid it. since then vasili's laid low, trying not to catch anyone's attention and focusing on the part of his old job that never got him in trouble: network engineering. he's now more or less a freelance employee under many companies that streamlines and updates information systems.
