Mary "Maisy" Matlen is a mid-western girl born into an impoverished family. She was smarter than anyone around her, familial or stranger, and saw school as her most efficient form of transportation out of there. Early on, she focused on a medical degree, and managed to land a scholarship out of state. The majority of her twenties were devoted to achieving her doctorate in general medicine, meaning she had to eschew all those coming of age rituals common to everyone else. It all made sense to her until, one day, inexplicably, it didn't. A traumatic experience she never speaks of Awakened her to the existence of magic and supernatural entities all around her. She just fucking knew and it changed her at her core.
All that was just a distant memory. She discarded her old personality as easily as her lab coat and moved on, disappeared, never to be seen the same again.
Now she saw the threads in reality and could sometimes change them. Getting to know people was her thing; all kinds, in all places, in all situations. Her laughter was infectious and her positive outlook an almost tangible substance everyone wanted a little piece of. It was difficult for her to say no when the chemistry was right or even lukewarm. She has a wayward, charming quality that was always cooled out and never seemed to get smothered by her overwhelming libido, there for anyone with balls enough to look past the chest and make the first move into transcendence. Sex was a doorway into a higher plane, where her consciousness expanded and the confines of reality melted, merely a means to an end.
She's been drifting through European countrysides, Asian urbanscapes, and back through the Americas looking for places to roughly jam her round peg into that square hole. She didn't look like anyone you probably knew; most definitely she didn't care. Play your cards right and you could take a ride; play a seven-two off suite and you'll be like that guy in Reno who had to have his thumb sewn back on. Maisy had seen all that, been there, and wanted to do it all over again.
There was something changing in her, gnawing at nerve endings, exposing live wire current, motivating her to move and be moved. Maisy couldn't explain it. The mundane bored her, the pretty boys with their tired grins and rebellious attitudes got glossed over; show her a man down on his luck, a tired truck driver with baggy eyes, and you'd get her blood boiling. She possessed a definite sympathy for the under dog, the last remaining vestiges of her Hippocratic oath. Slow to anger and hard to please with a dual-mind to do the pleasing. Ms. Matlen could nonetheless flip a switch, come at you teeth and claws.
OOC NotesThis character is loose World Of Darkness classic, a Cult of Ecstacy Mage. I don't really and honestly adhere to those rules in general play and I don't expect others to, but they give me a general framework to guide her with.
It amounts to Maisy being a hippie like, traveling pleasure scholar with the ability to manipulate life and time related magical aspects, as well as some other minor cantrips. Play can revolve around anything that manipulates these facets, from engaging with other supernatural entities positively or negatively, educating others on them, or generally getting into trouble and surviving her own antics.
