• Biography

  Before her days at Hogwarts, Narcissa was born into the Black family as the youngest of three sisters. While a nanny took care of her, Andromeda, and Bellatrix most of the time, Narcissa grew up with a desire to be the exact replica of her mother, Druella. Being the only sister with the Rosier's traits in appearance, this felt like an obligation of sorts. She was close with her sisters, and for a long while, felt that was the only friendship she needed.
  
  She started young to try and be a proper, young lady, but she loved to sing and dance. There were occasional times when she would disrupt dinner with humming, but with time, she learned to control her urges. Nanny had instructed her to use her musical talents through an instrument - something not so loud, and so the family invested in a new, polished cello to keep Cissy entertained.
  
  Bellatrix was the only one who ever called Narcissa "Cissy", and this was because Narcissa had a doll with that name. One day, Bellatrix had burned out, though for whatever reason is unclear. Narcissa threw a fit, and since then, Bellatrix could only think to make up for it by giving her sister a more endearing nickname.
  
  Narcissa started school at Hogwarts in September of 1966, but as her older sisters, was naturally sorted into Slytherin. She kept very little connections with other students, and even her housemates heard little from her for a while. She preferred to keep to herself and her studies, and when she wasn't with her sisters, she was usually seen with her Ragdoll cat, Alice. She excelled in Astronomy, which was her gem in her studies. In her OWLS, it was the only Outstanding she received, though she did at least pass all of her other classes. Her sisters had teased her numerous times as to why she hadn't wound up in Ravenclaw. Narcissa also took up on a couple of extra-curricular activities, such as joining the school chorus.
  
  As she grew a little older, Narcissa became more and more like her mother in appearance. At the end of her fifth year, Lucius Malfoy, who she was vaguely acquainted with at the time, had asked her to attend a Slug Club end-of-the-year dance with him as his date. She accepted, and somehow, that night changed her ego to the point that it gradually evolved her into a woman. It wasn't until her sixth year where she really began to stand out. She held herself high and spoke like a lady (though a bit of a snooty one). Some boys even found themselves tongue-tied when she tried to talk to them. Narcissa didn't take long to figure this out, and sometimes used it to her advantage, such as getting boys to hold her books.
  
  In her sixth year, things took a dark turn. Bellatrix had broken her away from her studies long enough to take her to Diagon Alley. She insisted they needed to have some "fun", though Narcissa didn't know it would lead to Bellatrix torturing and killing a newlywed couple in Knockturn Alley that turned out to be muggleborn. Narcissa was mortified and ran away from her sister - ever since then, she had been scared of her.
  
  As fate would have it, during the summer before her last year, the Malfoys came to call, and Druella had given everyone the news that Narcissa would be arranged to marry Lucius at some point after her graduation. At first, this enlightened her. The idea of keeping the blood pure within the Black family was fresh in her mind, but she actually did enjoy the young man's company, as well. However, as she came to realize that he, as well as her oldest sister, Bellatrix, would come to join the Dark Lord's ranks, she became very wary about the evil that she didn't want to get dragged into. Too much death, too much pain...
  
  Narcissa remained mostly a good girl, however, dedicated to the family plan. Unfortunately, she came to discover that Andromeda did not have similar plans. She was the one to first discover that Andromeda had been spending time with Ted Tonks - she had caught them making out in the school's courtyard. This infuriated Narcissa to the point that she felt betrayed by her sister. She didn't use violence to show her aggravation - in fact, she never even approached Andromeda about it. She became distant, and the friendly sistership they had suddenly was flipped off like a switch. Since then, Narcissa hasn't really spoken to her. While she does still talk with her oldest sister, Bellatrix, she is not fully happy with her situation as the Dark Lord's 'lapdog', as she secretly puts it. However, this is simply Cissy's way on hiding her concern about Bellatrix's well-being.
  
  Lucius regularly courted her after the arrangement was made, ensuring that they had a healthy relationship before they would get married. Even then, she expects she may no longer be her own woman. Instead, she would belong to a man capable of an immense amount of power and destruction.
  
  After graduation, Narcissa and Lucius married almost immediately. It was a luxurious wedding, and many people attended. They had their memorable honeymoon in Venice, Italy. They had only one son named Draco, who, like them, attended Hogwarts and was sorted into Slytherin.
