• History

  Maria's upbringing was slightly troubled.
  Her brother younger brother, Carlos, was favored by the family, often times over her. She never understood exactly why, so as she grew, so did her sense of work ethic. Her efforts to impress family members took up much of her day, and she made a point to attend every family gather so that she may have the chance to be noticed, and inquired about her accomplishments. The only shoulder she ever had to lean on was the son of a 'preacher' her father went to visit for 'services' every so often. The kid's name was Angel.
  As graduation came near, the realization that her parents, after all those years, still did not pay notice, Mariana directed her inner frustration towards the source: Her younger brother.
  In front of family, and society, she appeared a hard working, collected young adult. However, everything slowly ate away at her, and she began to spit sudden harsh words at her brother. That's where it started. Throughout her high school years, Maria would pick at Carlos for every little thing, and lock him in rooms when he did something that even remotely pissed her off. To her despair, these attempts only did the opposite effect of what she had hoped for. Carlos spat back in her face, began to criticize her, and show off after every time Maria tried to break him down.
  After Maria graduated, she began to see the true outcome of her consistent bullying. Carlos had become a critical, self centered, arrogant bastard.
  To please her parents, Maria became a psychiatrist instead of a chef of culinary arts (which was her original goal). She thought surely, that being successful within the world of psychology that her parents would notice her. Carlos, as always, managed to outdo her, as he became the country's rising star in modeling.
  However, a new threat arises. Carlos is getting engaged, to a man Maria knows, and well at that.The fiance's name is Angel, the very friend she had relied on in her early years.
  It didn't seem all that bad, as her former best friend would become her brother in-law, but nothing was what she expected. Angel had changed. He was intimidating, smart, and secretive even around her. Maria's parents began to grow fond of Angel immediately.
  Maria's suspicion grew as she noticed that Angel began to get involved with her father's business (they own a casino) in shady scenarios. Carlos has started to get more closed off, and is always at Angel's side.
  Maria finds out that Angel is the new 'preacher'. She begins to discover that he's doing sketchy affairs behind Maria's father's back, and with the help of Carlos.
  This is her chance, her chance to ultimately prove her worth by taking down whatever Angel and Carlos are up to, and saving her parents' business; as well as possibly their lives, and hers.
