• The Early Years

  Mikhael and Roman Ivanov were born to two incredibly powerful figure heads in Manhattan. Never wanting for anything, the two were exposed to a jarring mixture of a warm, doting mother and a stern, stoic father who only really ever held them when Anechka forced his hand. Despite his prickly exterior, Yuri did indeed carry with him a fondness for his boys. Favoritism was clear and present as the twins grew and the burly Russian began to recognize that Mikhael was much more like him than his brother. As a result, Mikhael received more attention from his father which was not necessarily a good thing. Yuri's influence on Mikhael at such a young age encouraged more of the toddler's short temper and unpleasant demeanor.
  
  However, Mikhael would not have the chance to continue developing under the discerning eye of his father. One frigid December night in 1995, nearly a month before their third birthday, a scuffle in an upscale Manhattan neighborhood and a deafening explosion would alter the course of Mikhael's life forever.
  
  Yuri and Anechka, for two entirely different reasons, were well known throughout the community. Yuri, a ruthless, power hungry juggernaut and the leader of the Red Mafia, Anechka, a stunning songbird who graced the stage all over the world to perform for a sea of adoring fans of all color and creed. For all of the people who murmured in awe at the couple who seemed to have the state of New York in the palm of their hand, there were an equal amount of brutal enemies.
  
  Yuri's notorious reputation for unapologetic ethnocentrism and indiscriminate brutality toward his perceived competition made him plenty of deadly adversaries, the most notable being the infamous Genovese crime family. Word had gotten around that Yuri'd gone soft, complacent, settled down and let himself become exposed through the spotlight of his wife, the songbird of the Red Mafia. Armed with the knowledge of that particular evening's schedule, members of 116th Street Crew crept into action and while Yuri was locking up the house, they neutralized the family's personal security and managed to pry Mikhael from Anechka's arms and plant a device beneath the wheel well of the car before the cries of the babies and their mother alerted the deadly Russian that there was something terribly wrong.
  
  The sight of the beast of a Russian barreling down the street toward the scene rendered the crew of young Italians panicked and unable to retrieve his other son before they scattered and hit the button that ignited the blinding explosion that forever stole away the last two remaining kin that would ever mean anything to the son of the Molotov King. Mikhael survived, but Yuri would never know it.
