• Biography

  Born in 18th Century England Joycelin lived an incredibly difficult life before her death. Her family were very poor, and from around four years old she started working with her mother spinning cloth. At twelve years old she was married off to a cruel man, who took her away from her parents, and she never saw them again. At sixteen she became pregnant, but miscarried. Her husband became even more cruel to her, and she never became pregnant again. At twenty-one her husband went on a voyage to france, and his ship crashed. Jocelyn became a widow, and although she had some money to keep herself sustained it wasn’t going to last her long. She went into embroidery to try and earn some money. At twenty-three on her way to the shop, she was attacked in the street. Her next memory was waking up a vampire, her attacker her new master. He was just, if not more cruel than her husband. He treated her as less than human, and she couldn’t leave because he was her creator. Eighty years passed and he finally got bored of her, he planned to kill her but after releasing her from his power, she managed to escape. Women’s rights were starting to be discussed in society, but not so much so that she exist a woman with no husband, and no money. She mostly lived on the streets in this time, killing any men who dared try to touch her. She had to move constantly. She saw the beginning of the Suffragette movement, how they only fought for privileged women like themselves. She worked when she could, learnt when she could, and slowly became more confident. In 1888, as women were allowed to own their own property, she managed to scrounge up enough to buy a small house in Manchester under a false name. She knew she couldn’t stay there long, but it was home for a short time. Ten years later she had to move on, as her neighbours were beginning to get suspicious at her lack of aging. In the early 1900’s she joined in as much as she could with the fight for Women to be able to vote. It was about time she wasn’t treated as subservient to anyone. She began to care less and less for what her role was in society. She stopped believing in God, because if he did exist she didn’t want anything to do with him. In the 1960’s during the sexual revolution she experimented a lot, drugs can work on vampires it turns out, and sex was fun when it wasn’t from a shitty man. Not that there wasn’t any of that offered to her previously, but the 1900’s are where she decided that she didn’t want to be constrained by the ideals she had been brought up with. She fought with LGBTQ+ people for their rights, and watched as many of them died in the AIDs epidemic. She always felt guilty that she didn’t offer them immortality but she couldn’t deal with the idea of turning someone. In the mid 1970s she decided to focus on her education, she took school classes and went to university with a focus on medieval history. She graduated with a masters in the mid 1980s. After this she travelled to the USA, starting her life anew and living happily alone in a small apartment. Everything was quiet for a while, until she heard news of her old master visiting town. It was against the law set up by the vampire council to another vampire unless on official business or in self defence. She did it anyway, and was caught. She was told to choose between death, or training a half-vampire in the time of its powers. She reluctantly chose the later.
