Vincent Hunds story began during the late 1980s when his mother gave birth to his identical twin and himself, a stillborn. Through quick practice and skilled hands, Vincent by some miracle was brought back to life but not before a purgatory hound came to carry his soul to Purgatory. The unexpected return to his minute old body had his soul fuse with the purgatory hound during an instance of the transition where his soul was drawn back into the vessel. Human in body, Vincent was no longer considered human, but 1/2 purgatory hound. He was given the name Venus and by his mother, and unknown to him he was labeled Plague by Purgatory. From ages 1 to 11 Vincent grew and developed completely unaware of his altered state of being and it wasn't until he was 5 years of age that he was misdiagnosed with hypertension (low blood pressure) which doctors suspected was what caused him to faint so often. He had no idea that during these situations his body was actually rendered soulless as the Hound descended into the world to carry on instinctive duties. At the time he did not retain the full memory of these occurrences as both his mind and eyes were too underdeveloped to fully understand at length each anomaly. Because of this the Hound which dominated the soul during the fusion, suffered in accepting the new vessel which created chaotic turmoil within the young human body. It was at the ripe age of 11 that Vincent was summoned into purgatory for the first time. Taken from his body his very bear soul appeared before the court. Despite his age it was here he learned of what he was, what was happening to him, and why it was happening. "You have committed crimes you are not even fully aware and it is our duty as keepers of Purgatory to oversee your destruction. The court however senses opportunity in you and so we would like to offer you the chance to live instead. Your prior crimes will be forgiven and you will be grandfathered under the Three Offense Rule, should you choose to accept. You will also be required to undergo conditioning to see to it that your hound retains attachment to your body and does not drift, leaving your vessel comatose." "You are young, much too young to understand fully your crimes and the situation at hand--we understand, truly. Our reasoning for summoning you while so young is, however unfortunate, due to a condition that happens often to those with as strange a situation as yours. Its called early separation. Your soul is slowly beginning to reject the body and while this is normal and natural we find it is not in our favor. We've a contract for you to sign and should you agree we will require your signature--ah, but not as your given name, as your Purgatory name, Plague." Vincent signed the contract and from ages 11 to 15 he underwent harsh annual reconditioning to make sure he didn't sever prematurely. Over time he was made to understand the terms and conditions of his existence, that his time on Earth had become a privilege and that there were rules to follow outside the structure of normal human society if he were to keep that privilege. In addition, he was assigned an adviser to whom he would report regularly, and to whom he still reports regularly, expressing all worries and concerns. It was his adviser that he first confessed his dysphoria to which then later led to the unveiling of Vincent's transgender discovery. From there his home life became increasingly difficult, unpleasant, and fairly unsupportive. Vincent's first offense occurred at the age of 16, where while he separated from the body he lost his clarity and went rogue, as a result he had accidentally bitten his sister's soul, fragmenting it. Upon their summon into Purgatory Vincent made the full report and was regrettably informed of the severity of his first offense. While Purgatory special services tended to his twin, Vincent was informed of the gruesome details regarding his sister's new and rare condition courtesy of his disobedience. She had become one third purgatory hound and was referred to as from then on out, a Tainted Mongrel--or mongrel for short. He also learned that his bite upon any present souls on Earth could and would likely have a devastating effect, that his bite caused lifetime terminal illness among other startling realizations. That his bite could kill people. It was not uncommon for Plague Dogs to be referred to as the Komodo dragons of the three verses. They were lethal, deadly, and due to their strange and uncommon disposition they were not bound strictly to anyone verse. As far as Vincent was aware, he could travel freely between Earth, Purgatory, Heaven, or Hell--though make no mistake he certainly wasn't allowed unless issued an order otherwise. Do not speak of Purgatory. Do not engage with employees of Purgatory on-duty. Do not exposed yourself as an employee of Purgatory. Do not share your red eyes with anyone outside of Purgatory nor any additional features that may display under special situations such as clairvoyance. Do not disobey a direct order. Do not neglect a direct order. Do not lie on reports. Always report on time. Do not be late to reconditioning. Do not be late, period. And lastly, never bite. The list went on forever, but at the age of 18 Vincent received an official collar of Purgatory declaring him property of Purgatory. It demonstrated his loyalty and servitude for seven plus years (which was a number only relevant in terms of dogs, hounds, etc). Vincent also moved out and legally at his name is changed from Venus to Vincent that year, settling into his own space as he began his very isolated lifestyle. After graduating he enrolled in police academy and at the end of his first year scheduled himself for top surgery. From then on out he was for alp intents and purposes, his own man, quite literally. |
