Luca grew up mostly with his Mother because of her selfishness of wanting to keep her son to herself. It meant that Luca was isolated from his Father and the reasons for the changes in his life being filled with lies, to try and keep him away from being shared with someone else than his Mother. It wasn't that his Mother treated him badly though. In fact she gave him a good life and taught him how to achieve success in life. Though her obsession with her son was not healthy, and eventually the truth had to come to the surface: that she was not fit to be a Mother, and shouldn't be portraying her issues onto her offspring. Suddenly everything changed AGAIN. Luca's Mother was taken away from him as she was sent to an institution where she would hopefully get better eventually, while he reunited with his Father who finally understood fully what had been going on. He had gotten his son back! Though Luca was also older at that time and had learned things his Mom's way, and those were habits that were difficult to break. Life with his Father was much different, much more down to earth and accepting. Luca saw his Father as the best person in the whole world and wanted him the best forever.
Luca was never a person who needed money. Even with his Father's more simple life running a restaurant on the beach, Luca was taught how to achieve success, and had learned through the years what he was good at. One of those things were flowers and plants. It perhaps sounded strange, but spending so much time on the beach and in nature had shown him that love, had presented it to him many years ago. Still, Luca went to travel and live away from his Father to achieve bigger things in life. It probably also didn't help that his Father almost drowned while they were on a boat in the middle of the ocean and almost died. That scarred the young man and corrupted the ocean for him, to the point where he couldn't look at it every day anymore. He also kept warning his Father to NEVER go on a boat by himself. To that, his Father hugged him with a warm smile, and wished him good luck on his future endavours.
Now Luca works in a flower shop that is very successful and he is great friends with his boss Dao, which is a huge achievement in itself. He knows the "language of flowers" despite wanting to roll his eyes whenever someone comments on it, as well as when people try and flirst with him using it while not knowing what the fuck they're doing. Apart from that, he sends a certain amount of his salary every month to his Father who keeps telling him not to, but that dosen't make Luca back down! This way he can make sure that his Dad will have extra money laying around, and that wasn't bad at all, was it now? After all, nobody knew what would happen in the future, and maybe one day his parent will need medication or something like that, and he wants to contribute.
Though Luca's success dosen't come only from working at the flower shop and being a respected worker there. In fact, it mostly comes from his secret life: being an LGBTQ+ romance writer. Yes, he is a writer! Though as mentioned he still keeps it a secret to everyone he knows. The only one who is aware is a woman named Mollie who helps him with more general stuff, being hired as his assistant, as well as his editor, of course. He's not sure exactly why he still keeps it a secret though after having worked in this field for the past few years, and having so much success as he does. His novels are well loved and appreciated. Still, every novel is written by someone without a face and a pen name. That is all his readers know him by. His editor has by now asked him MANY times if he ever would like to reveal himself as the writer of his novels, but Luca has always said no, or that he'll think about it. He simply isn't ready yet, and what he needs to get ready, he isn't aware of either.
After all, he was a romance writer without having much of a romantic life himself. What the hell is up with that?
